Welcome fron TO!

PS if you were going to buy a tractor, I would advise you to do it sooner rather than later, because the prices are going to go up quite substantially once the Canadian dealers start to run out of inventory that they got from the US. Don't forget, the Canadian dollar has dropped 25% in the last little while, which will start to make US imports cost a lot more.

Hey Trials,

No have not had the time to discover the world of motorcycles.

How do you like your boomer and why did you go the New Holland route?

Hey Trials,

No have not had the time to discover the world of motorcycles.

How do you like your boomer and why did you go the New Holland route?

Bought my first tractor at an auction, it was a Ford 1900. It was a great little tractor, but too big to fit inside a dump trailer that I could tow behind my truck, so I traded that one for the largest one with attachments that I could physically and legally transport. (TC26DA)

New holland offered the highest horsepower tractor in the smallest package at the time and the local dealership offered me the best deal on a trade-in for a very slightly used unit they had in stock.

The Boomer is very nice, the quick detach front loader is much lighter duty then the 1900 was, but I have modified that to be stronger after experiencing a near catastrophic failure of the bell housing. I would highly recommend doing a similar upgrade if you are buying a small tractor with the intention of fitting a back-hoe attachment on it.

One thing to note, if you plan to use the tractor for snow removal, plan on providing it with either a heated garage or be ready to thaw it out frequently. I've had to fit the steering column with a grease fitting and fill that assembly with grease to prevent the steering from freezing up. The transmission (my newer one is hydrostatic, the first was standard) is prone to frost and condensation accumulation and when water builds up in the oil, that will freeze in the filters and that needs to be thawed out before it will work. Same thing happened with the previous unit. Frequent replacement of the hydraulic oil will be required under winter conditions.
