Nothing new on the Lake today that I've seen in the news or on FB, but I did find this link that was kind of interesting!!! I'm told that there are aligators in every lake in Texas. I have clients that have seen them swim past their boat docks on Lake *********, which is the big lake where I live. I also know people who have seen them along the Sabine River, which is my county line and 7 miles from my house. One friend near there took a great picture of one walking across the road near her house.

Many, many years ago when I worked at the Post Office we even had baby alligators sent through the mail. People ordered them for the same reason people have goldfish, small turtles, and other lizards in aquariums. And I think when the owners got tired of them or the critters got too big, some people just turned them loose around lakes, creeks, and rivers. I had an aunt and uncle who once called animal control to come get a 2' alligator they round in Five Mile Creek behind their house in Dallas. And while I've never actually seen proof, a number of people have claimed to have seen alligators in White Rock Lake in Dallas, and at least one person told me he'd seen an alligator in Bachman Lake in Dallas.

I flew over Lake Lewisville in June and was surprised how much waterfront land was flooded. It sounds like a good bit of rain since then.

Where do you think alligator cowboy boots come from? Of course your lakes have alligators!

I remember back in the late '70s or early '80s that they raised the level of the lake 7 feet or so. Not sure what the reason was or how that move would effect the stability of the dam.

I can remember seeing baby gators for sale in gas stations and roadside attractions in Florida.

Used to be able to buy them at Gatorland which is one of the few surviving roadside tourist attractions in FLA. To enter Gatorland you had to walk through the gator's mouth!!!!:eek::shocked::eek::laughing::laughing::laughing:

The old building burned down years ago so you don't have to walk through the gator's mouth to enter which is a let down....

There is a Leave it to Beaver episode, one of the early shows, where Beaver and Walley get a mail order gator.:laughing::laughing:

Later,
Dan
