Power pack build

Does anyone know of a link to a hydraulic power pack build. I want to mount a snowblower to the front end loader and I don't have enough flow with the tractor hydraulics. Done some searching, coming up empty.

I haven't bought one yet, but the few I've looked at on line require 18-21 GPM.
I've been pushing snow with the bucket for a few years now, slow process at times. Facing backwards does not appeal to me in the least. I know these systems, if bought at retail can be quite pricey. 10k with the blower in my neighbourhood. Thought if I could save a couple grand by building the power pack, it would be worth doing. I'm a hydraulic rookie, so I might be out to lunch.

Would a pto driven pump work instead of a separate power pack? Should be able to get some ideas for that on youtube. Surely a lot cheaper too.

The pump will need a reserve of hydraulic oil to pump from (and to dissipate heat) just don't know how big of a tank. Like all pressure systems, you'll need a bypass valve back to the tank to release excess pressure if something happens...

Aluminum tanks and relief valves are cheap and can be mounted anywhere, since it's winter an oil cooler probably won't be necessary.

You will also need the pressure required at that flow rate to calculate power supply horsepower. Found this pretty quickly online:

{Power required by a a pump with 20 gpm capacity and 1500 psi pressure can be calculated as
PHP = (20 gpm) (1500 psi) / 1714= 17.5 HP

Efficiency
Note that the equation above can be used for a 100% efficient pump - which in the practial life is never true. An overall efficiency of 80 - 95% is common. The equation above can be modified to

PHP = q p / ((μ / 100) 1714)
where μ = overall efficiency (%)}

What are your power supply choices for 15 to 30 hp? Can you put a front PTO on your NH?

Are you talking about putting a regular 3pth snowblower onto your fel? There are a number of posts about doing just that and running the snowblower off an engine that's mounted along with the snowblower. So it runs separately from the tractor. But looking at the tractor you've got - I'd have thought you've got enough power to run a hydraulic system? Hang a hydraulic pump off the rear pto, and either have the reservoir tank hanging off the 3pth for ballast (you'll need something anyway.) and then plumb lines up the snowblower on the fel run off a hydraulic motor. Also set up a valve so you can control the snow blower - on/off. If you keep that system somehow modular and not specific to the snowblower you could use it for other things - post hole digger for example. (hydraulic post hole digger is so much nicer than a pto one plus you can mount it on the fel etc etc.)

Anyway look up those posts of guys running snowblowers with a separate motor on the fel - even if you're going with the hydraulic idea at least that will give you good ideas on mounting the snowblower for the rest your build should be simpler since you don't have to figure in a separate motor as well.

Last thought - go get a 3pth snowblower and blow snow backwards for now while you figure out what you want to do. Yes it's not as nice as driving forwards but it beats using your bucket by a long shot!!! Then once you figure out how to adapt it to the fel, well you'll have it there to hook up. Also if for some reason the system doesn't work at some point you can always revert back to using it on the rear. Options. I like options.
