Concealed Carry Regrets?

I should know this, I better ask.... I'm planning a cross country trip next year. I have CCW in New York State. ( Yes, they do give them out!).

Will I be able to travel with my firearm through any state? My permit is for NY, but does that allow me to carry in any state?
When you go to that map, you will see that many states honor a permit from NY, but NY does not honor a permit from ANY other state. Same holds true for IL, CA, OR and several others. Most of the Midwest and Southern states have reciprocal agreements.

The place I would love to see change regs is Canada! We drive thru Canada 2x most years now on a US built hiway, and yet as Americans we can't carry a pistol with us:(

Canadian immigration laws say you can but the RCMP say you can't and they aren't foolin around. I had to kill a moose(with a broken back that someone else hit) with a knife because we aren't allowed to carry!

That must have been interesting!

Thanks for that map, I'll just have to watch my speed and make no stops in PA, but all the states I want to visit are OK except for Louisiana and Florida....oh well.

Louisiana considers your vehicle an extension of your home so you can do whatever you want in the car. You would not be able to carry outside the vehicle though.

I got a crap load of tickets in NJ for having a light out on my trailer , unreadable registration on for trailer , no insurance card on trailer ( md its covered by truck ) obstructed windshield ( Gps on dash) and wrong insurance card for truck ( it wasnt a card it was a paper) $ 600 plus a lawyer $ 900 . A Gun ? They would probably hang you .

New Jersey jailed a man because his flight was diverted to NJ due to weather. He had a gun in his checked luggage and had declared it with the airlines. Since the flight change required him to stay the night the airline handed him is luggage and sent him to a hotel. When he went to board the next flight he declared the gun again and was arrested.

I guess NJ does not recognize constitutional rights.

What is the penalty if caught with a firearm in one of these businesses? Unless you're going through a detector......how would they know if your firearm is concealed??

In georgia if a busness posts a sign "no firearms" you can walk lright past and into the building with your Concealed weapon. Its not a force of law state. If they see you with it they can ask you to leave and if you dont they can arrest you for tresspassing but not a gun charge. In SC it is force of law, if you see a sign and its to the size the law states and has the universal no gun symbol on it you cant carry in there period and can be charged if found.

In a school or pubic office im sure it will be a criminal offense!!!

I regret that a permit is required. To purchase a handgun, you have to pass a background check. That should be enough as far as government is concerned. Of course, education and training is always helpful.

I also regret that French citizens didn't have concealed guns when attacked by terrorists. Same for the people who were attacked in San Bernardino.

unless you use the "gun show loophole" ;)

At least here it is not a punishable crime to defend yourself even if it is posted no guns. Our personal protection first.

Excerpt from Kansas CC statute;

(e)(1) It shall be a violation of this section to carry a concealed handgun in violation of any restriction or prohibition allowed by subsection (a) or (b) if the building is posted in accordance with rules and regulations adopted by the attorney general pursuant to subsection (i). Any person who violates this section shall not be subject to a criminal penalty but may be subject to denial to such premises or removal from such premises.
