It's rated for 1200 lbs at full extension (about 11 ft).
How much can it lift up close? Can turn over an empty trailer? Could it have lifted this log. It was a solid 2,000 pounds. I had to cut off 2 chunks to lift it with my loader. Sorry for all of the questions. I really like the trailer.

The trailer has "backhoe" type stabillizers that fold down and should have full loader capacity even empty.
Spend a little time on youtube "forestry trailers", it seems that they more or less originated over in Europe and are used extensively. They have lot's of neat options like being hyd. "steerable" as well as driven/braking. Nice rig's but I think they start around $12-14k!

This was a walnut log about 2ftx10.5ft. Guessing close to 2000 lbs. The slew housing / stabilizer mount buckled. I just got the trailer back from the dealer on 12/11/15 from the slew housing being replaced under warranty. They updated the design (haven't taken pictures of it) and it's much stronger than the old mount. So your welcome to anyone who bought one after I broke it as they get the stronger version from the start:thumbsup:

I would not try to lift a log of this size without the trailer hooked to a machine as it will tip unless you are loading from downhill. When I load the trailer empty I get some smaller logs on it first. If I have the trailer unhooked from the tractor or the trailer is hooked to the truck, then (providing I have the forks or grapple on a tractor) I'll just raise the boom out of the way and load with the tractor as it goes much faster.

If I ever get a helper I would like to fell, limb, cut to length and load the 5045E/trailer combination with the 3032e -> Helper drives load out and decks the logs at the roadside while I cut more so it's ready to be loaded on it's return -> repeat.

I wouldn't recommend full load at full extension while empty. It isn't really all that stable. It will lift the tail of the truck up a little when empty on the larger logs.

I paid $20k even for mine. Wallenstein LT60H highway trailer, LX115 loader, power pack, and the "free" backhoe/dump box kit (deal they were running at the time in March of 2015). If I were to do it again I'd look a bit more at the Woody Equipment: Woody Equipment | Forestry equipment. They offer larger models than Wallenstein for a decent price.

Hi Dave I just got a Wallienstien 835 Processor. I luv it.

I'm sure the WP835 does better with the longer logs than my WP830 as the ramp is supposed to be a little flatter.

Here is me using mine this past summer.

Hey Daves, that's a really nice trailer!

Mike, what's the difference between a Wallenstein 830 and a 835?

My dealer rep told me that the splitter area is a little bigger. Its got the synthetic rope on the winch. I'm not sure what else is diffront. Dave I liked you video also. I watched it twice before I got my machine.

From the manufacturer :
"The differences between the WP830 and 835 are as follows:

Splitting cylinder is mounted 2” higher

Cross wedge can be raised 8” (vs. 6”)

Winch screen removed

Larger push block

Angle of the log approach is not as steep

Deeper log cradle for splitting"
