Stories of growing up and what chores needed to be done. Not sure if you were before indoor plumbing??? Where did you get water? sorry if this is dumb but just wanted to know what it was like "way back when"...
Way back when  Sure makes me feel old.

The big ranches had Indoor plumbing & wells or other water supplies. Some had electricity and / or generators.
We mostly hauled water depending pm where we were it came from someone's well, a stream or a spring. Few places until we moved to Tombstone after the war had running water, a well or even a stream.
Vaguely I remember moving the out house on to a new hole. Wnen we moved to town we even moved the out house as well.
Water was hauled in a big galvanized barrel, lot heaver than an oil drum. Other barrel's & milk cans.
At about 4 I learned to chop wood. Mom laughed at me and said I chopped left handed.
At the property in Fry ( Now Serra Vista. It was leased.) There where 3 houses & a sheep herders tent. Ours, Granddads, aunt Leta's & an old mans tent. A few hundred yards from the houses were the corrals, horse trough & dog houses. Don't know where that water came from, but we didn't drink it.
She tried to drowned me.
Feeding the hounds 1 day, I found a "Horned Toad to play with. It squirted me right in the with a blood like liquid. Dore's Coffee grabbed me by the seat of the pants & back of the neck & stuck my head in the horse trough. About the time I thought I was a goner she would pull me up long enough to get s breath & then down again. Folks believed That that stuff would make you go blind, Actually it is harmless.
We had 1 mean hound. 1 Day mom could not find me. Fearing the worst, she went to the hounds. there he was sitting out side his house, guarding me.
More later
