A description I read about float mode is that when you use float mode the bucket/blade whatever follows the contour of the ground automatically.

I'm curious if that is correct, and if so, how does it do that? Are there sensors to determine when the ground contour changes and make adjustments? I'm curious about how it actually operates and can do that?

Simply removes any hydraulic pressure so the weight of the FEL keeps it in contact with the ground.

Yes, what Sarg said. The arms of the front end loader go "limber", but the hydraulics of the bucket don't. You can see this in that high quality video I posted yesterday.:D

Actually, what float mode does is to cancel hydraulic flow to the up and down control of the fel so that the arm and bucket weight is gravity directed. However the tilt and curl hydraulic is still fully active so you can set and adjust your bucket angle.
