Tractors and wood! Show your pics

Youtube is amazing for the breadth of information out there. There's all kinds of Gov video series that are uploaded now you can access anywhere - from forestry management to how to make tractor accessories. All that stuff used to be hidden in the archives somewhere and now we can get it regardless of being from the state it was produced in or on the other side of the world.

I just found out This Old House has been uploading their shows to the 'tube too - watching a project that used to be a 16 week wait (and missing a few episodes) can now happen in an evening finish to end.

Brought up some wood for the wife before I go back to work after the holidays. Of course with such a big project like this it is always good to have a swamper.

No big wood in this picture, but showing off my new bucket grapple with a mouthful of pine branches waiting to get cut into burn able lengths.

My helper and me, ran several tanks of gas through my NEW Jonsered 2260 chainsaw today, what a nice saw!!

First we cut down several tornado damaged hard maples, where I then skidded them out of the woods,

With that done, I lifted them with my tractor and held them over my wagon, while my helper cut them to firewood lengths,

We cut a big load today,

There's some big rounds in that wagon,

We have more tree's cut, enough to fill that wagon a few more times...

Both of us REALLY like the 2260 and also it's little cousin, my Husky 550xp! We gave them both a real work out today!!

I'll split the wagon load later, now it's time to rest up! lol

Started pulling out logs from all the trees I have been cutting. Since it was too muddy to get in there with a tractor, I setup a fairlead high on a tree across from the slot I was cutting into the woods, and pulled the logs out by rope with the tractor safely on my gravel driveway. Got about 3/4 of the logs out today, and will finish up the rest tomorrow.

Jonsereds are the same saw as a Husqvarna, they come down the same line. (with a different cover) The 2260 is the same saw as a Husky 560xp, which is the same as the 562xp, EXCEPT the 2260 has the smaller bar mount. (which I wanted)

Anyway, here's a big crotch I split up with the 2260,

I did not know that. Too many years buried in the Stihl line up I guess. I like my Stihls but have to respect the Huskys. .... And Johnnies. ... And Echos.

Yup... It would have been a good one for that! I do save the best logs for the sawmill, but I just can't save everything, as I have to keep my butt warm in the winter! lol
