Well I got my estimate today. Our house is 58ft long X 28ft wide garage is 28ft long. The final estimate was $831 5 inch gutters .25 thickness with 6 down spouts. The Are Your Gutters LeaFree?? (brand name) cover was another $1630 bucks, ouch.

The gutter brush would be less than half that, then you can usually find a discount code for 25% that would cut it down even more

My experience with any gutter protectors is that they will never let the gutters keep up with a hard rain. No matter what, your gutters will be less efficient with them installed than without. Heck, even the gutters can't keep up when it's pouring really bad.

I have just resigned myself to keeping the gutters clean from leaves and preserving the biggest opening I can for the runoff. In reality I clean them 4-5 times in the fall and that's about it. I've been looking at those leaf blower extensions so I can do it from the ground instead of a ladder. Even with the ladder, I can get around the entire house in 30 minutes or so.

The key is to do it often. Don't let that crap get wet and packed in their where it turns into a muck. That is a miserable job. Leaves that haven't started decomposing are easy to clean out.

I have resigned myself to never cleaning gutters again. And so far it has worked for nearly a decade. The gutter on the back side of my house is 25 foot to the "ground", which is mostly overgrown hidden sharp rocks on a near 30 degree slope, and a fall to that "ground" is likely to result in death or severe injury.. I couldn't wait to figure out a way to never have to do that again.

I hear ya.Pushing 60 years old, rods and cages in my old back and a replaced knee.I cannot get up on a ladder like I used to to clean the gutters. This is my only option or pay someone to do it every year and hope they have insurance in case they fall.

Exactly. And I have thousands of hours working on ladders while working in Telecom. But I have brains enough to know when to re-evaluate things. I have not regretted putting in the Gutta Gard.

I've got two piles of leaves in the valleys of my house now. If it wasn't that the valleys would put floods on a couple of places that would make for trouble, I'd take the #$%&*! gutters off except over the entrances.

I have no gutters on my upper roofs, only the lowers that would drain against the foundation. There are a couple of drip points from the upper roof that can make annoying noise when the rain intensity is just right.

Put the foam type guards in all the lowers - might have worked good except that I got the wrong size. They are for 5" and I have 6". So now have been considering these - EasyOn Gutter Guard | Advanced EasyOn Micro Mesh Leaf Filter System. Got a sample piece and they seem to be made well, but will have to get their more expensive super-size to cover the 6"-ers.
