Used Mahindras

Just my thoughts... Mahindra has made a more recent push into the market with redesigned tractors in a broader range of sizes, more dealers and killer financing. So purchases are more recent and more of them than we saw 5 -10 years ago . A brand like Kubota has been around longer so we see more of those folks in the replacement mode or getting older and cutting back and selling the acreage, so more of them are available. I believe Mahindra buyers will be holding on to their machines for many years before we see the replacement phase kick in. I looked over the last several years and saw no used ones, in any size. The only ones available were new, 5 yr. warranty and low rate financing. Why would I look at something used with that (and the wife preferred the tractor with the warranty). I plan to not replace mine but eventually likely get something a bit bigger.

My dealer has only handled them for about 3 or so years but he has really expanded, newly built service building and bigger lot with more of the range on their main site. Also added another location about 10 miles away, along with the RVs. They hired away an experienced Kubota guy from the long time dealer in the area to run the tractor operation (they also are a mid size RV dealer) He claims they are selling a lot of tractors. I'm not sure what they do about trade ins, never ask that but don't see any on the lot when I go by there.

This is just my opinion and obviously I am biased. You see many late model Kubota tractors because people are disappointed with the DPF burnoff and DEF and all of the downtime associated with it. The book loves Kubota's but is unkind to Mahindra tractors when it comes to resale value so they end up being the best bang for the buck when used. I've sold used 4110's with HST and FEL and Backhoe for $14,995 with only 300 hours. Most Mahindra owners won't accept this kind of low value for such a good machine. Unfortunately the banks go by the book value so the market is kind of fixed. Mahindra owners stay satisfied with their machines for the most part so they keep em'. If you run up on a used Mahindra, it will be a great tractor at a much better price than most other machines on the market.

what Book you talking about? Ain't heard of such book.

Following up to this thread
My brother purchased a new 2016 model year Max 26XL HSD with FEL, BH, MMM, Yard Rake
Sweet machine, I really like it.
The seat is kind of a PIA to go from normal to BH mode. Can't switch it around quickly.

Thanks for all your help

Most of the issues I've seen with the Kubota IT4 and T4 engines is operator induced. Just can't get them to run the engine at full RPM so the passive regen does its thing.
Sounds like a waste of fuel to me.
If I need full throttle I use it, I don't need high RPM's or full power I shouldn't have to run it there IMO

I agree with Oldpilgrim, I would not trade mine in for anything other than another Mahindra and I own both brands. The mahindra has a edge in my mind with durabilty and ease of operation that the Kubota doesn't.

Why trade a good tractor that is paid for? Just buy another that has what #1 did not, then another, etc!

Doesn't cost much to let them rest in a shed till you need them.

Knowing new sales figures would be interesting since the Tier4 issue is not really an issue with Mahindra as compared to other brands.

I suspect future used Tier4 Mahindras will hold their value better than the other brands.

It't not too often I see the pin on style QA and forks in use! Thanks for the pic!

There are 3 things going on with the compact tractor market around here:
1. KneeDeep is right-- it doesn't cost anything to park it in the shed
2. A tractor holds its value very well-- in fact some of them go UP in value over time so no reason to be in a hurry to sell.
3. All my friends have said the same thing about their tractors-- "Three guys in my neighborhood have asked me to call them if I ever decide to sell"

This can be a good thing. If you buy a tractor and it doesn't work as intended, or if your situation changes, then you can usually sell it and get most of your money back.

Over the past few months I've seen lots of 2015-2016 used E-Series Deere tractors for sale locally, and the sellers keep renewing the ads week after week (the tractors aren't selling). Why would so many Deere owners be selling their 1-2 year old tractors? I also noticed that any Branson, Mahindra, LS, or Kioti machine that's priced right and is in good condition sells quickly (don't see these often). Maybe those Deere owners use the machines for awhile and realize they're not what they expected? Before I did any research I honed in on a Deere 3038E, but then realized its weight, capacities and standard features are at the bottom of the pile when it comes to value. If someone is happy with a lightweight, low capacity, very basic tractor, the E-Series Deere fits the bill.
