How does that work? Something like cassette tapes? Buy a album and down load?

Many years ago I visited Cat's Proving Grounds regarding testing one of my machines and had the opportunity to try a noise cancelling open ROPS machine they were playing with. Speakers located around the platform producing sound waves canceling machine generated noise actually had operator ear level sound as quiet as a premium cab. Never saw it enter production, probably because the customer buying an open ROPS is doing it to save $$$ and to them, supplying ear plugs or muffs is more cost effective. The customers who have a hard time hiring operators because of the operating environment will buy a cab anyway.

Ive had my bose quiet comfort 15 for like 5 years now and I love them use them every day..

I took about a week to get use to the noise canceling because it almost seemed like there was pressure on my ears, but not it's normal. I mean its literally awesome how they work so well...

Let's skip forward from the reel to reel through 8 tracks and cassettes to the more recent CDs, MP3 files, etc.
Do you own CDs and a CD/DVD/BlueRay player equipped laptop or desktop? If so, with an internet connection will allow you to download music, or take it from your existing collection of CDs and store it on your laptop/desktop. Then you can transfer it over to your android or itunes/apple phone.
You can also download directly into your phone's music library, or use music services and streaming music, etc.

Thanks for the info CM. I do have CDs stored on my lap top so I can use them.

This is a great thread of good, real-world advice. I can't add anything, but I will say that some years ago, my brother investigated noise cancelling headphones for use in his turbo-prop airplane. It was noisy, but the pricey Bose headphones he got ($400, but aircraft grade!?) were great- quiet, but the Sirus radio and air traffic control were clear. Whatever you invest in, make sure that replacement ear pads are easy to get, since, as someone said, they get sweaty and dirty and otherwise nasty.
