Suction.leak...did you have one before. Or are you still trying to expel the air out of the system?

Honestly, I can't say. This is a new setup for me, but using a pump, return line, and tank that were on the tractor when I bought it 6 months ago. I replaced the pressure line leading from the pump to the valve. I didn't replace the suction line, but I did have to fiddle with the line. It's not leaking but maybe I disturbed the suction line enough to allow this leaking. It's pretty loud and screeching.

If I'm sucking air into the pump would that cause it be noisy?

I believe there is still significant air in the cylinders, but that seems to come into the tank in 'burps'. What I'm currently seeing in the tank is like a boiling pot. It's not big bubbles, it's frothy. So I think it's sucking air.

I'd check the suction fittings and strainer, enough junk might have been settled at the bottom of the tank or in hoses that now found its way to the strainer. Fittings should be easy to check

The strainer is more difficult in that you have to drain the fluid. See link

Hoping it would also bubble or force oil out of any other leaks or cracks in a suction hose

How long has this pump been sitting idle. Could the shaft seal have dried out allowing air to be sucked in around it? Seals will occasionally allow air past them but not leak oil out.

I honestly can't say how long it's been idle. I've had this machine about 6 months. I think the previous owner ignored this pump so it could easily be several years. When I got the machine, this 'loop' was still filled with very milky fluid. Before heading down this path of using this pump to run things I connected up the pump to make sure it at least turned. That may have been the first time it was turned and pumping in years.

Is that seal normally something that can be replaced?

Have you looked very hard at the regen. I find regen causes a lot of problems if not correct.

I'm trying to upload the photos from yesterday. I guess the files were too large. I tried reducing them as jpg and re-uploading them but that didn't work. I then had to convert them to pdf and shrink the size. Hopefully this finally works.

No. I'm not sure what I would look at. Regen should be built into the valve and this seems to happen even when I'm not using regen. I don't think my problem is coming from regen. At least not yet. My pump is always running even if I'm not activating any of the cylinders, I still get froth in my return tank. I need to remove the suction line and make sure all the connections are tight.

It's 8 degrees out so I'm not really that excited about doing this. Not to mention that it's going to create a big mess so I'm getting up the courage and trying to stock some warmth before heading out. ; )

What kind of pressure do you think would be appropriate? I can probably get my compressor up to about 100PSI, well below the high side system pressure of 2000psi. Would that still be useful? I'm not sure I've got all the right fittings to do that but I can look.
