Willie's Road House on Sirius is my choice (but only when I drive Sharn Jean's car); otherwise it's NPR. I grew up in the 50's with real COUNTRY music; even played and sang a bit. I do (or did) some Johnny Cash and have always loved Faron Young...will even listen to Earnest Tubb, and still believe Patsy Cline was the finest female country singer ever. We still have a few of the old timers left, but not many. Have tickets to see Willie and Merle coming up in April. BTW, anyone familiar with Daryle Singletary? Not hugely popular, but Country in the classic sense of the word.

Great rags to riches story is Arnel Pineda... From living homeless on the streets of Manila to lead singer of Journey making millions.

Can you imagine the conversation in 60 or so years when Beeber and Kanye die ( assuming they live a full life ) ... Everyone talking about how great their music was . .....eeeek.

Well....

I don't think everyone will be talking about how great their music was but there might be someone. Maybe. :laughing::laughing::laughing:

Sad thing is when I first saw the Beeb starting out, it was obvious the kid had some talent, but he seems to have blown it with wanting to be a thug. :rolleyes: He really got in with the wrong people and it shows.

Well if dad ever found out I had driven anything of "his", the music would be the very least of my worries, but you make a valid point. My dad's idea of good music was restricted to Flat and Skruggs, Little Jimmy Dickens etc. and I could not escape it.

I spare my kids as I never even turn my radio on.:)

My dad used to play Slim Whitman and Box Car Wiley...... :rolleyes::shocked::eek:

I was abused I say! ABUSED! :laughing::laughing::laughing:

For my kids, I generally try to sing for them while driving, figuring my singing has to be better than ol' Box Car. :thumbsup: The kids seem to keep their ear buds in while I sing. :rolleyes::D:D:D

What will they say about me in 30 years. :confused3::laughing::laughing::laughing:

There is some good music today.

I heard the The Avett Brothers on Austin City Limits and they got my attention real quick. Bought a couple of their albums already but I have watched quite a few of their videos and concerts on You Tube. Currently the band is four guys, two of which are actual brothers. Three of them have been together since playing on the streets in Charlotte NC. The two brothers grew up on a small farm in NC and have not seemed to have lost their way as so often happens. Looking at their concert schedules and the albums they have recorded, they seem to work the tails off. For concerts, the band has other players on the tour. They are really tight on stage and very consistent with the songs when playing on TV, concert or in an NPR studio. Impressed am I.

The music is good and their lyrics are thoughtful and clever. Of all of the bands I like, the Avett brothers beats them all and I like many of the top bands from the 60's, 70's, 80's and early 90's. Not really sure the major music industry really produced much good, lasting music starting in the mid 90's. :confused3: I have not heard a bad song from The Avett Brothers.

The Avett Brothers have a gazzilion hours of videos on YouTube. I have been up to 3:30 in the morning many a Saturday night/Sunday morning watching the videos. One more song I say until I realize how late it is. :shocked::laughing::laughing::laughing:

That was interesting. I never really liked Journey but I knew they were still around without the original lead singer. This new guy is impressive.

You truly were, those were about the only people my father in law listened too; may explain why my wife left home and married me.:laughing:

I've never heard anyone so excellently cover so many songs by so many different artists. The more I listen to Mike Masse, the more I like his music. Here's, Cat's in the Cradle. https://youtu.be/MEvfJSB7K8M You won't be disappointed in his music.
