Every time I go to W/M for anything I always walk past the ammo area to see if any 22's made it to the shelf area. Well today for the first time in years they had some Winchester 22LR 100 count boxes for sale. No big deal but I was happy to see it. :D

I always figured that they woudl figure out a way to manufacture enough 22 ammo to catch up. Took a while though.

The question is, will there be any there tomorrow, and how much per round was it? My guess is no. And near 10 cents per round. Please let me know if I am wrong..

Walmart has held their prices down and that's why there's always a bunch of guys buying it all up... Many times to resell it for what ever the market will bare!

Actually when in comes to WalMart, a friend or relative of the person in the gun area gets a phone call before .22 ammo ever hits the shelf (a "perk" I guess). Dunno about others but we have so many other options around here...WalMart would be the last place I would consider for ammo but that might be that they stock their stores with local competition in mind...their sporting goods area here is pretty pathetic).

My Brother has 7,000 rounds of 22 ammo. Every time he sees it available in Wal-Mart he buys it. He don't shoot more than 200 rounds a year. :confused3:

I have seen it here on a very rare occasion. I have a couple 22s and they really only like CCI high velocity. If I don't use it , my Sig Mosquito and my S&W will jam.

22lr is coming back around. Sadly your $15 a brick stuff is gone forever. 22 magnum is virtually impossible to find.

If I am in town tomorrow I will check again, price today for the 100ct was $8 something I do not remember the number.

Last week mine had both the Winchester 22LR 100 round packs mentioned above and also winchester 22 Mag 50rd boxes. Limit of 3 total per day per person. Got 1 22 Mag box ($10) and 2 of the 22LR ($7).

Immediately called the wife and she went by an hour or so later. All was gone. There were only 4 boxes of the 22 Mag so no suprise there, but there had to have been at least 50 of the 22LR. They went very quick. I guess word got out.

I was at a Cabelas not too long ago, and they had quite a bit of 22 mag. on the shelf, but it was priced at retail and retail on mags is pretty high, so I passed.

No matter, I have enough around anyway...

These posts make me wonder if a lot of people never look anywhere but Walmart for ammo? 22 ammo has been readily available for a LONG time around here. Not at Walmart, but all sporting goods stores have plenty. .380 on the other hand can be tougher to find.

Way better than what I saw today, $59.95 for 500 rounds of 40 grain Norma brand. Local pawn shop had about 10 bricks of it.

MM your right if I was looking to buy I would be out beating the bushes at every sporting goods store in town. The local Cal Store has had the 333 boxes in the sale flyer. A friend looking for .380 bought some at this same W/M a couple of weeks back not sure if they still have any. Good luck.

That Norma is good stuff. It shoots more accurate than CCI. It is fairly expensive. I don't like it though. The shells are completely covered in a light oil. It gets your hands oily to load it.

Yes, Norma has always had a good reputation at least in my mind. But I am just not paying $59 bucks for a brick.

Expect local pawn shops will be full of the stuff from the "hoarders" now trying to unload the stuff they bought when supply was tight (hoping to make a huge profit). With the supply chain now seeming to becoming somewhat normal, I hope they all get what they deserve (in the tax world we used to say "pigs get fed, hogs get slaughtered"). Btw that saying works on most aspects of life.
