Yea, I don't think it is the smaller mf30.

Doesn't that mean it has dry sleeves?

What are the odds the sleeves don't need to be removed? I have no idea if and when they have ever been removed. But the tractor has plenty of power and has good compression....

If you have a broken piston ring why do you need to change the sleeves?
Is the bore badly scored? If not can you just do a hone? Then do rings ,bearing shells (big ends only as you are leaving the crank in), and seals.

Well, I don't have motor apart. I don't know that I have a broken ring. I think It is likely a broken ring. It has bad "blow by" but plenty of power and runs great. As long as oil is constantly replenished. Sound like a broken ring?

If it is just a broken ring, you don't think the broken ring would have scarred the sleeves up bad enough to need replacing?

Its not the small one, you may get away with new rings.

The dry sleeves can be hard to pull out, you must have a puller.

Do you know if the front end loader has to come off in order to remove the head and see how the sleeves look? Would this be a huge undertaking just to get to the sleeves and check them out?

Just take the head off on the engine, should not be an big job. Just clean as much as you can before you begin.

X2 on getting it as clean as you can before taking it apart. Rent, or barrow a pressure washer if you don't have one.

Another thing it could be is that the piston rings collapsed thus not giving you a good seal. After you get the head, oil pan off, and get the pistons out for a closer look.
