Not sure why there are 4 pin holes, and would like to know the
best way to mount this to my FEL?

The holes as follows. Bottom 2 holes are spaced 9.25" apart.
The next 2 holes are both spaced at 6" each.

So, 9.25" to 2nd hole.....15.5" to 3rd hole, and then 21.5" to the top hole.

The former owner used the lowest hole and the 3rd hole up. The center to center
dimension for those holes is 15.5".

The c/c dimension of the bucket is 9.5.

Can I safely use my FEL with the pins spaced beyond
the bucket spacing of 9.5"?

If you understand the changes in geometry the different pin location creates, it will reduce the range of curl in the bucket but give you more curl power.

As dc said, it will just change the force/range of the curl function. The difference between 9.25 vs 9.5 will be all but unnoticeable. Any of the other choices will be quite obvious. The first time you hook it up, just cycle it slowly to watch for any interference.

My overall concern is that there will be not damage done to the cylinders, etc. if I choose an upper hole and increase the distance of the pins (greater than the 9.5")
when operating this attachment. There will be considerable force when digging with it.

Looking at the attachment, which holes would be best to use based on its design and function?

I would worry about your tractor before you worry about the attachment.

To me that would mean match the spaceing of your stock bucket. If your bucket pins are 12" apart, pick a set of holes that most closely matches that spaceing.

Can you explain what it's intended use is? Looks homemade to me. I thought it was a boom pole or trailer mover type thing.

I would still start with the closest to stock spacing and see how it works. Wider pin spacing will decrease the load on the hydraulics and increase the load on the attachment

It kinda looks like a tree spade.

Sorry, for some reason I am not able to receive instant email notifications from TBN.
Anyone know how to fix this??

The gent I purchased this from used it to dig, move and place good size stones, and dig out small stumps.

He had the same loader and used the pins at a 15.5" spacing, instead of the 9.5" bucket spacing.
Would this 15.5" spacing put anything at risk on my machine?
He said that it performed very well. Showed me the stones he moved.

I have an old stone wall, which over the years has kind of disappeared. Hoping I can use this to locate and reclaim a lot
of the original stones to rebuild the Farmer's wall.

See my first post, won't hurt at all, will loose some range of pivot, but with more power.
