Was having trouble starting and now can't start my 4035. Dealer suggested changing the fuel filter. I did that and tried to bleed the system as the manual says. I repaired a split hose going into the main injector (I think) see picture. This is probably the culprit all along.

A couple of questions.

1) Should the bleeder valve at the bottom of the filter have a gasket? Mind seems to leak just a tiny bit then stops, but I know I only have 3/4 full filter once I get it in.

2) What is the proper way to bleed the fuel system, I tried what was in the manual, but I can't get it to prime at all.

Thanks

Knowing nothing about your tractor but getting a diesel to prime can be a major pain. It took me hours of cranking in short spurts, along with judicious venting of injectors, to prime my 7.3L IDI. And also many recharging the battery many times.

The valve at the bottom is for draining water collected in the filter. It should have a rubber or similar gasket.
You may have other air leaks. How old are the fuel lines? Check for cracks in the lines and other loose connections. Do you have two fuel filters? My tractor has one filter by the tank and the other near the fuel pump.

Depending on the year of your tractor, I'd just have the dealer run your vin. I believe there were not 1 but 2 sets of bad fuel lines. Or just save the dealer Hassel and cut the lines off your fittings and put some good old USA hose on there. Then bleed as manual says

Definitly call your dealer and have them check your Vin# for campain# TIB.004v2. Your tractor should have been done before it left the dealership.
