My other project I am working on is a conveyor belt.
I bought this conveyor last week . Its 13' long and 10" wide.
Was told it came from a rental place that rented it out to assist to move dirt from basements. I want to use it to load firewood into my truck.
My problem so far is I don't know what size motor I need to run it.
So far I released the belt tension so the roller has very little tension on it. It does turn freely but does turn by hand with a bit of effort.
I tried a 3450rpm .75hp with a small pulley but it just hummed.
Next I tried a 1/4 hp 1725 and it just hummed.
Then I tried a 1/2hp 1725 It turned the roller only if I assisted and then would stop after 4-5 turns of the roller. Remember the belt is not turning yet.
Each of the motors had a 2" pulley on the shaft .
Any suggestion!!
Not sure if it need a gas engine to run it or just a motor.
Some of the hay elevators I has seen run with a belt and pulley. Was thinking maybe I need a gear and chain once I get the power issue working.
All thoughts are welcome.
