Actually, it looks like you could just attach a shaft from your tractor's pto to the drive on the elevator. Running the tractor off idle ought to give you the perfect belt speed. I have a hay elevator that will run that way (direct drive, no belts, chains or motors. If you have a mower or a post digger you already have the shaft. Just need to sleeve the prop shaft onto the belt drive shaft. Make sure you have good shaft guard shields.

But, do you expect the firewood to stay on that elevator ? Seems like it would roll off easily.

Got a chance to look at my conveyor. 3/4hp@1725rpm electric motor. belt reduction , motor vee pulley=2in dia, gearbox input 3.5in dia vee pulley. Gearbox output is a 18 tooth #40 drive sprocket, conveyor shaft is a 23tooth #40 sprocket. Unfortunatly I wasnt able to get the gear ratio of the gear box as it had no tag and it was locked down so i couldnt turn by hand to do a count. Gear box is a Boston Gear, 300 series. The conveyor is 14ft by 12, pretty close in size to the one you are working with. This conveyor came off a saw mill to off bear slab wood. so it should be about the right speed for firewood, or at least I hope it is because thats what I bought it for.

From a computer the pic has to be 100K or smaller.

If it is over 100K the uploader will just ignore it, no error message.

I don't know what phones do with oversize pictures.

Thanks mud stopper. But the reduction box is the key. I did find a 75:1 reduction box here
So 1725/ 75 = 23 x 2 " o/p =46 / 6 last gear =7.7 rpm

95rpm x 19" =1805 running inches
13 Ft belt x 2 top and bottom x 12 "= 312 inches = 5.78 rpm

i have worked around conveyors for about forty years check with your local bearing supply company im thinking something like a dodge size #3 gearbox with a 5 hp 240 volt motor

#40 chain would be sufficient, but I dont like chain. At least for the first stage. I like belts for high speed stuff, chain for the lower speed.

That's how our hay elevators are setup. A 1.5" pulley to a 10-12" pulley. Then a small sprocket to a large one.

So what I ended with is this set up.

3/4 hp motor 3" pulley belt to a 2 " pulley on the 75:1 ratio reducer . Out the reducer on to a 17 tooth #40 chain to a 40 tooth bolted to the roller. I bolted it as I bought the wrong size weld on hub.
Rpm on the belt is 2rpms for 1 min 10 seconds. Might try it out to see how it works before I start to change the pulley size.

look at a rowing machine and ponder how a splitter cylinder could drive a jackshaft in a similar fashion. The rotation wouldn't be continuous but it would get the wood out of your way and you could deadhead a few cycles when you're done to clear the conveyor

Changed it up Switched to a 1/4 hp 1725 I swapped the big gear off the roller and the smaller gear off the reducer and still ended up with a 2 rpm belt speed. Then I changed the wiring on the motor to spin CCW so I could get rid of some of the wood Now the motor and reducer are both on one compact board . Just need to get a bucket to cover the motor for outside storage.
