I really appreciate all the replies. I am going with my gut and not going to buy the tractor. Service and parts are very important to me. I'm shifting my search back to Kubota and Deere.
I just cannot risk investing in a product and then having major issues with warranty and service. Thanks again everyone!

I doubt very seriously you'd have major issues. They look to me to be a quality unit (minus the camo contact paper on the hood.....)

I'm not sure I agree with the whole better resale thing with Kubota and John Deere. I could see maybe compared to a completely discontinued product that was defunct or obsolete but I believe this is pretty much a TYM tractor with full parts availability.

I think you have to consider price paid originally when looking at resale. Of course a John Deere or Kubota would sell for more on resale if it cost more originally that's not better resale that's just more resale. I think getting a $10,000 discount definitely takes a lot more of the risk out of the purchase. Plus there's no guarantee that a local Kubota or John Deere dealer won't go out of business also. I have had equal amounts of trouble getting parts for John Deere product as I have other brands.

Point is all tractor purchases carry some risk this particular one probably carries more than others. Question will always be are you getting enough compensation to make you comfortable with the amount of risk you feel you will have to take. For me if I was in the market right now I would definitely be checking out those Cabelas tractors.

I found this letter that went out by searching Google. I guess someone could call the 1-800 number and ask if TYM warrants the Cabela's tractors

+1. You need to know the cost new vs used on this resale thing.

The very fact that we are discussing at length the quality of a TYM indicates that if you were to go sell the thing later you would have to justify the quality of that to someone, possibly uneducated about the quality. Not a factor with a Kubota or JD I'm not saying I wouldn't consider the TYM either. I generally keep an open mind when buying, but I also know there is that real thing called resale value that you should not ignore. Most people will give you a little better dollar on a known quantity; all I'm saying.

Not really.. I'm talking in proportional relation to the purchase price of both being new. I personally, and from reading the threads many others too, would not want to give you a next to new price for a TYM with no dealer nearby. I would however on a Kubota or JD. Probably my ignorance of TYM which I admitted but the fact is that ignorance of TYM is prevelant. Walk up to 10 people on the street and ask them if they were going to buy a tractor would you but a TYM or a Kubota or JD.

My guess is they will say what is a TYM?

Here they would say New Holland or Kioti.

I don't know that I would have a hesitation buying a TYM if there was a dealer around. I just have never even seen a red TYM tractor other than in pictures. The only TYM product I have seen is the green Cabelas models and maybe that is how they intended to get in the market. In which case they should want to warranty the Cabelas versions.
