2013 Max 22
Has anyone every modified their Max 22 HSD so there are foot controls for forward and reverse on the left side? I can't work my brakes independently unless I have the HSD locked in forward. I'd like to be able to use the brake on one side or the other, while pressing the forward pedal. It's a problem in tight spots. Am I missing something or does Mahindra think I have two right legs? I hardly every need the clutch so my left leg could work the forward and reverse pedal.

Mahindra isn't the only tractor co that thinks we have 2 right legs.:confused2:

It may be easier to move the brakes to the left, and leave the hydro control on the right. They are likely cable operated, so you'd just need to put in your own pedals and run the cable lines. Not sure if it's be worth the effort, but I guess it depends how often you require the split brakes in tight quarters.

My 3550 has brakes on the left. That makes no sense to have split brakes on the same side as the hydro controls.

The brakes take a lot more force to push than the hydro pedal does so I think making another way to push the hydro pedal is the way to go. I'd really like it if I could operate the hydro from the seat when flipped around backwards operating the backhoe. Sometimes I want to move farther than I want to use the backhoe to push the tractor forward. I can reach behind and steer but I can't reach the hydro pedal.

Your not supposed to steer with the brakes on an HST tractor. Thats why the pedals are configured the way they are.

Why would hst make any difference on the desire to use split brakes for maneuverability?

Well thats what they teach us at service school. The question always comes up about the poor location of the brake pedals. The standard answer from the instructors is there not to be used for steering. BUT, I just looked in the MAX op man and it says for use in turning???? Who knows!!:confused3:

They are on the left for my 3550 hst. Maybe they don't think the max needs the extra maneuverability, but the larger tractors might?

Why are you needing brakes while going forward in tight spots? trying to force steer it?
