So your plan was to use their bulb then send it back after you got a new one? If it had worked you would have sent them a used bulb?

Thats correct.

If the bulb they sent me was the right bulb for the TV, but just the cheaper, dimmer, shorter life bulb.......I would have used it for 3-4 days til the higher end bulb arrived. Then put it back in the package and mailed it back. Why should I not have my TV for an extra 3-4 days because they screwed up?

But as it turns out, not only was the bulb the cheaper version, it was the wrong bulb for the TV, so It wouldnt even work.

A while back, in a big box store, I could not locate what I wanted and walked my feet off looking for a clerk (or the product).
Around a corner I come upon 4-5 clerks so I excuse myself (like do I really have to) to ask where to find the item.
They rudely told me that they were in conference and not to disturb them.

But as I turned the corner I overheard them discussing last nights dates.

To many 'work' is simply to be on premises and not to exert oneself between breaks.

Help is on the way. You'll never think the same way again. . . The Revelation

Kill your TV
Television: An addictive device which keeps the lower classes subdued; a perpetuator of violence and materialism; and a silent destroyer of intellectualism.

SNIP

Actually surprised this thread made it this long before someone posted something like this...

I have two kids, 2-1/2 and 5-1/2. Neither in school yet. (cutoff for school was august 1 and the 5-1/2 year old was born aug 24).

TV is good. The shows they watch, and cartoons, are very educational. Shows that help them learn colors, numbers, shapes, etc. Learn words and meanings. I have no problem with kids watching that, on a cold winter day, with nothing to do outside.

Now in the warmer months, its different. I'm outside.....kids are outside. They actually would rather be outside than couped up in the house. But not every day is a good day to go outside.

My kids arent watching shows that have violence, murder, etc. And comparing TV to drugs as an escape from reality......really? And lower test scores.....I dont think my kids would be as smart, or have the vocabulary they do, if it wasnt for educational cartoons. And when they get older, TV watching is going to be mostly the shows that I watch. Almost everything on H2, and science channel.

They are for DLP rear projection tv's. They were kinda the bridge between CRT tube TV's and the modern LCD/LED/Plasma flat stuff.

I have a dlp tv. Replaced bulb once, got on amazon for a decent price. Much cheaper than an overhead projector bulb.

You order a sirloin in a restaurant. They send chuck instead. You say I'll just nosh on this chuck until the sirloin comes. Think that would be ok?

Not same same. At least they get their bulb back instead of a turd.

Return policies and all that shouldnt apply when they screw up and send you something you didnt order. Then refuse to send the item you paid for without charging you again, or waiting on old one to be returned.

There return policy is simply listed as 30-day guarantee, either money back or replacement....customers choice.

Well, if you feel that way, you won't be ordering anything off of eB*y. I recently bought some nuts with Free Shipping. Seller sent the wrong ones. Won't refund or exchange until I send back the wrong ones - at my expense. To add insult to injury, the return shipping label program doesn't work, and no method to respond to eB*y. Case closed. So much for their buyer protection policy.
Yeah, I'll find a better source...

I wouldnt have a problem doing that.

I send a steak back they are gonna just toss it in the garbage. So why would they care.

ITs a moot point anyway.....the bulb they sent me didnt work. But if it did....the 3 days it would have been "used" in my TV would have been a small price to pay for their mistake. Remember, if they would have just sent me the bulb I asked for, we wouldnt be having this conversation.

They could then sell the bulb as an "open box" item with a few days use at a little discount. Chalk it up as the cost to "rent" me a bulb till they correct their mistake.

Dont know why you are making a bid deal out of it.

If the your mouse died, and you ordered a wireless one. But they sent you a wired on instead, would you go another 3 days without a mouse? or would you plug the wired one in and use it till the correct one arrived?

If your can-opener dies, and you order one of them fancy safety ones that cuts around the rim and leaves no sharp edges, but they send you a old style instead, would you not use it to get by until the right one shows up?

If you are in the middle of a engine rebuild and your torque wrench breaks, so you order a snap-on one and instead they send you a craftsman one....are you gonna set yourself behind 3 days and wait on the snap-on one? Or are you gonna torque your headbolts with the craftsman one and move on with the rebuild and send the craftsman one back when the snapon wrench shows up?

If you have a headlight out on your car, and you stop at the parts store and get the pack of fancy xtra bright blue xenon expensive bulbs, but realize it was a packaging error and what you got was a standard replacement, and by now the store is closed and you have to work in the morning......are you gonna risk a ticket, or an accident because you couldnt see? or are you gonna put the bulb in to be safe and address it with the parts store the next day?

I could go on forever.
