Most Useful Minor Additions to Tractor

I added a 12V switched power outlet. It is wired straight off the starter (fused of course). The sprayer turns on and off with a flip of the dash switch. Bonus: Cut off the battery clips and put on a 12V plug on the battery tender. Plug the battery tender into the sprayer outlet, flip the switch on and the battery is maintained over winter.

The best thing I added to my Kubota B26 was a large tool box that I mounted to the FOPS rear post. It is large enough for gloves and 3 bottles of water plus a few tools. Water being the most important thing to have when you are out in the woods.

Great contributions here. I will be borrowing many of them.

In my opinion, the absolute best "minor addition" to any tractor, large or small, is a steering wheel spinner. (Sometimes known as a suicide knob when used on road vehicles.) Seriously - no better cheap add on to make your whole world better. It is incredibly useful for loader work when one hand is needed for the controls. You can use one hand when operating the three point control as well. Also, if you question your mirrors you can pull yourself around in your seat with a free hand while completely controlling the operating with your strong hand on the wheel spinner. Lots of corners while mowing? You'll love them now. Navigating through trees? This is the ticket. Seriously this will change your world for the better if you are a spinner virgin! Here's just one example at this link: Speeco Wheel Spinner Deluxe Knob 160426YAU by Speeco for $12.99 in Pins - Parts - Repairs - Tractor Parts & Accessories - Agriculture : Rural King You can also get 'em with branding in some cases too!

Not a great picture, but you can see this one behind the loader control. It has a sturdy feel and works flawlessly with the hydro steering. Effortless and smoooooth steering without wearing both arms out and 100% control at all times. Anyone else a fan?

Totally forgot about that and you are absolutely right! Easily the best bang for the buck (ot installation time).

I grew up with a spinner on dad's ol massey 135. Haven't put one on my JD yet, wheel is smaller, and just using the heel of the palm of my hand has done ok... however, I do have one I've been wanting to put on, once I find the other part of the mounting bracket!

Love the large tool box idea... I have some extra metal ammo boxes I think I'll use. Are those hooks welded? I was thinking of bolting hooks...any qualms about that?

No pictures with this reply, but I swear it all happened! My most favorite little customizations to my tractor (in no particular order) ... Halogen worklights-one pointed front and one back, 3 point trailer mover type drawbar with 3/8" hook welded on to get the ends of logs off the ground when skidding from factory drawbar. Hoping for top and tilt this year if budget allows and CEO approves!

I was working at the farm/hunting land over the last couple of days. Trying to catch up on a lot of little projects since I had been sidelined for a few weeks after knee surgery. As I moved from item to item I thought about the useful items I have on the tractor. Just having the little 30hp "bull dozer" is handy enough but a few additions help a lot, and most of the ideas I got from helpful folks on this forum. What minor additions have you added that really come in handy? Here are four of mine

1. Larger toolbox. This is a simple Plano tackle box I picked up at Home Depot or Academy sports. Drilled a couple of holes in the bottom and attached. Really great to have tools when you need them.

2. Better use of the small toolbox. The little box works great for small items like sunglasses, cell phones, etc. Word of caution = careful what part of bolt is left in the box after installation. The top of my bolts were just right to scratch the surface of my cell phone.

3. Tooth Bar on front end loader. I have so many projects that include moving limbs and stumps, or just moving soil. My box blade comes in handy but for simple items the tooth bar adds so much power to the dig. Also great to just touch the surface and moves limbs/stumps without too much top soil. Great addition.

4. Chain hooks. The previous owner had these installed when he first bought the tractor. I am so glad he did, as they were quite handy yesterday to pull old T posts from the ground, and to hook up an old shed for a move. Mine are on each arm, but some have one in the center of the bucket.

Of the many good additions shown here one thing I didn't see was a fire extinguisher. I don't have one myself but I keep thinking I should. I just keep putting it off. Of course it is not really a very useful item, that is, until you need it.
