Anybody have any experience with them. I have been looking for a used HD bush hog and there are no good 6 footers around. These seem to be fairly priced (also looking at the Everything Attachments HD model but are a bit more expensive).

Thanks!

How thick of material are you looking to cut? a true medium duty is rated to cut 3" has side skirts of 1/4" and a 7 Gauge deck and has a a gear box rated for over 100hp and a True HD is rated for 4".

Many of the cheaper brands say heavy duty but are built like a light duty from the respected names if they even make one. (Woods,Bush Hog,Landpride, Brown)

A descent new 6' medium duty is probably in the $3K range
I had an even harder time trying to find a medium duty 7'. I found lots of 6 and 8ft (twin spindles) around

I would have to say mostly cutting thick grass and brush. Occasionally up to two inch material and not commercially. Just looking for a reliable unit for personal use cutting 10 acres a week on a 57 HP (not PTO HP) tractor.

If you have a pretty well controlled use environment a light duty may work. But an oops with a 57 HP tractor will mash up anything less than a true medium duty before you can notice.

It's what you DON'T see, that "most times" kills the rotary cutter.

I like to size my cutter for many many years of use, maybe i'll hit a rock ? or a stump ?, you just never know.

The shear bolt or slip clutch just doesn't stop all the "shock loads" that goes to the gear box and when you DO hit something, sooner or later when that happens, the lighter cutter will fail...

Well right now I am using a 72" John Deere (Woods) finish mower so I have been pretty aware of not hitting anything. For the material I am cutting I really should be using a bush hog and I would like to mow other heavier areas. I really don't want to buy a light duty unit but rater a beefier medium duty or HD unit.

The Tennessee River HD unit has a 90 hp gearbox so I was wondering if anybody has ever used one.

Thanks!
