Wow, I overestimated the number of bags of cement needed by 50% (the good way!) I already took 21 bags back and got my refund.

Stats: 42 ft curbing, 21 bags 80# cement, 1,680 pounds, 63 minutes.
Yes, a new record - average 3 minutes per bag!

Don, that is the concrete equivalent of the 4 minute mile. Were you afraid your shoes might get stuck in it?

I bought the Harbor a Freight mixer last summer on sale plus a 25% coupon. I added a 5/8" axel and replaced the 9" skinny wheel with some wheels off of a pull type fertilizer spreader that I scrapped.

It is a real workhorse and mixes bag of concrete in a couple of minutes. I have not done any large jobs, comparable to Don's but, have no doubt it would work well.

Good morning. Had to move the feed troughs again this morning, the grass around them had turned to mud after only a couple of days of the in-lamb ewes stampeding for their feed pellets. It wouldn't be so bad if they went straight to the feed, but instead of stopping to eat as the pellets go in, they keep following me around each trough. With the ground being so wet and sticky, I can't walk fast enough to get ahead of them, so it takes an age to push my way through. Maybe it will start to dry up some next week, I really would appreciate a break from the mud.

Don, you sure know how to put us ordinary mortals to shame.

cold morning here, I'd report the temps but Wunderground seems to be having difficulties this morning.
Two local teenagers coming over to do yard work this morning, which is great. I'll get some tractor time hauling topsoil and mulch while
they do hopefully most of the hard work. And while they are picking up sticks I have blackberry bushes and rose bushes to plant this morning. Easy to do in existing gardens, just filling in spots.

then I hope to go over to the local meat market and get some ribs for dinner, and put them on my new grill.
Will probably do a dry rub, trying to avoid a lot of sugary stuff on them. I have several bottles of traditional barbecue sauce
but now that I know how much sugar is in them, well....I guess the trick is to use it sparingly. Mention ribs and I bet there are a thousand
good recipes for cooking them, guys sure get serious about barbecuing.
I'm going to try to slow cook mine for several hours, nice big temp gauge on the grill, see if I can keep them at 350.

Enjoy your weekend.

26 going to 49 and getting cloudy. Can't get into Weather Underground, either - NWS works fine.

Picked up my first implement in a long time yesterday - a 6 ft landscape rake...nothing fancy - basic Tartar/TSC model with the 10% coupon. I pointed out some rust so they knocked some more off, so not a bad deal. Hitched it up last night, and today will tackle a couple of food plots that have a lot of small rocks, and smooth out the ruts on my bridge approach - plan to scoop up the rocks and dump at the bridge. First thing I did was test, and glad the rake rotates 360 degrees without hitting the back tires.

While at TSC, picked up an empty LP tank to add for my back-up generator and had them fill it...1.79/gallon...so $8.41 rather than about $20 to swap one out at the gas station or Wal-Mart...dumb me, never knew it was so much cheaper that way.

Don, I am also impressed with your concrete exploits.

RS, hope things are calming down over your way...but afterwards it is sometimes a good thing to a have a motivating reason to tackle jobs, like your security system.

Eric, when are the lambs due? Pix, of course.

Well, better grab something to eat, Drew's rib plans has me hungry.
