The very nature of what tractors, farm and heavy equipment can do makes them dangerous. Care and paying attention and common sense while using them is the best safety precautions you can use.

While not an advocate of defeating all safety devices/switches/interlocks, I also have to agree that some of them seem more like a "lawyer device" than a "safety device".

Have you ever seen a meat saw? Talk about DANGEROUS! Those things are made to cut right through bone and meat, thawed or frozen. They are built like a band saw and have to be used with the hands holding the meat that is being cut close to that blade. That blade can't tell the difference between the beef/pork/deer/fowl and the human holding that meat - it cuts anything that it touches.

And some think driving a tractor without a seat switch is dangerous? Try passing an oddly shaped piece of frozen meat through a meat saw to create 3/4" slices of finished product.

Yes, I have seen more than one butcher missing a finger or two.

Them Georgia boys been at it again.... blowing up stuff with Tannerite is all fun and games.... until someone loses a leg. Literally.

Man loses leg by shooting lawn mower full of explosives - YouTube

Look on the bright side, he should be eligible for this years Darwin awards. Three pounds in a big metal object with lots of shrapnel potential and he was 43 feet away. Why not 3 feet? At least no innocent persons were hurt. :confused3:

No Darwin award - did not removed himself from gene pool. Still has ability to reproduce. Little higher up and centered may have got him the Darwin award.
