If it was me, I would go for the TLB, but that is only me.
Any particular reason why? I ask because I know me and I can invent all kinds of justifications for something I want but can get by without.

Btw Jeff you are right TBN is my friend. I looked up those threads on limited cat 1 and now have a good understanding. In the process I even learned something about Guage wheels I didn't know. Thanks for that tidbit.

Killing time here (I am supposed to be starting taxes...) so I looked up a new L2501 HST with SSQA HD loader, backhoe, R-4 tires with wheel spacers, so forth for a ready to go set up, and it was just over $30000 list. Not that you want just that, but beats doing taxes.

Not at all. That's very helpful. It tells me the price is out of reach on that model. Besides, I'm doing this instead of taking care of reports myself.

Installation of new trees, digging up and repairing as well as installing new water lines to various out buildings.

For trenching you can use a Rip & Dig bucket attachment, which can also be used to plant trees, although a Bucket Spade is a little better. (You cannot trench with a Bucket Spade.)

Many would recommend a Three Point Hitch SUBSOILER as the most efficient implement for installing water lines, electrical wire and wire conduits.

Put the $6,000 toward the tractor and implements.

Maybe you should think about just hiring the work done for you and maybe look into getting you own tractor later on.
When I moved in a couple of years ago my five acres were very overgrown. You couldn't see though it must less walk through it. It was also a fire just waiting to happen as we were in the midst of a drought and there were fires all around us then. I hired a land clearing outfit that came in with a hand crew and a couple of masticators on track loaders. They had all of it ship shape and looking like a park in just a couple of days. With all the mulch left from grinding the understory into the forest floor my trees are in much better shape now.
I took delivery of my own tractor a few days ago to help keep it up along with other chores. It would have taken me forever to get it all cleaned up on my own along with a much larger investment in the equipment to do the job, probably not as well as they did. Just a thought. Yeah it wasn't cheap but neither is the equipment to do it all on your own. As far as time element, that depends on the individual but I have all the time I need and I still think it was the way to go.

Here is a LINK to the Kubota web site.

It offers a new L2501 tractor-loader with HST and 4-WD for $21,676 MSRP. // NO BACKHOE //

Dealer discounts are regularly 5% to 8% less than MSRP, so a real world price would be: $20,592 @ 5% to $19,942 @ 8%.

Post a LINK to someone who actually received 10% or greater discount on an L2501.
