Got carded at tractor supply....

It's funny to see how different people handle this "problem". I used to check groceries back in the late 50's, and we were a little more practical. We only checked those who looked like they may not be old enough. It worked for us. Now I have a daughter that is 53 and a grand son that is 24. They still ask for my ID when I buy beer at Target. Now I realize that my movie star good looks, and my Superman-like body makes me look much younger than I really am, but really? I thought for sure my grey hair would give me away. Maybe it's my salt and pepper mustache.

Our local grocer has decided that if you look to be nearer to 70 than to 17, just plug in a random over-21 birth day and get on with it. Ah, they are so much wiser today than they were back in the dark ages when men were men, women were women and everyone liked it that way (with apologies to Bob Hope).

I got carded when I asked for the seniors rate at a local restaurant. I'm 69. I considered that a compliment.

Unfortunately, w/technology today entering "wrong information" will cost you your job. In my area they send in undercover officers to monitor this kind of stuff. Out of Control for sure.
But if enough patrons did just that and the manager had to come take care of each customer, soon enough there would be a change of policy. Every place I have been will have a placard stating that if you look under 45 then expect to be carded for alcohol and tobacco purchase. I don't think a SS aged patron looks under 45 so there is no need to show ID, clerks could just put in any date needed to justify purchases which is what the manager would do if he had to settle the issue OR do without the sale.
I have to agree with a certain politician, America has become a nation of policy and political correctness and without common sense and it is time for some changes.

I guess questioning comes with age and before I had always thought it was youth.

Went to pick up Mom's prescription and had my ID and also asked for a year end summary for tax purposes... said she would have to come in... OK

So I bring her in... same place for 30 years and said she needs ID... no one said that and I am too stupid to assume.

Ask for the pharmacists and wait... he said it does not matter that they know me and mom... still need her ID.

Running out of time... her 90 year old neighbor drives here down with ID... such a waste of time.

Anthem wants her to do perscription by mail... she wants to do business local where they know her.

So I was in a take no prisoners mindset and made a formal complaint to the State commission on aging, the Pharmacy Board and to Rite Aid Corp...

Seems all the Pharmacist had to do was say a summary would be sent to the address on the prescription...

Stopped in last night and to say the reception was cold would be an understatement... as I was next up the Pharmacist closed the register...

What part of customer service is hard to understand?

I'm starting to Op Out more these days.

I think I am becoming like one of my older friends... his nickname is Grumpy... not all the time... just most of the time.

Waiting behind you to finish my purchase would be a joy.

It's called leverage. The manager has to deal with several ticked off people, not just one!

If they didn't have such stupid management, it would not occur.

This new crop of clerks seem to care less what the customer wants/thinks...and what pizzes me off is it seems to be the policy of the store. It's so rewarding to go through the check out line and be (not) greeted by a purple haired, tattooed, nose pierced gum-chewing Cretin. They don't say "hello, good by, kiss my booty, etc". They throw your stuff on the counter and you have to load the stuff in you basket and sometimes even have to sack it. The self check out (Heaven forbid) looks better all of the time.

Historically, I've always tried to use the manned check out lines instead of the self check out to support the cashiers. However, seeing all these people wanting $15/hr to work in fast food really stuns me that people think they should be "entitled" to a living wage working the register in these kind of jobs. In my opinion, those jobs are for kids having no skills and needing spending money.

Now, what is really fun yet cruel to do is buy something for $15.53, hand them a twenty, wait till they punch it in, and then say, "Wait, I've got three cents". Amazing how it locks up their brains. Then again, I used to tutor math at the community college and the number of people I met who counted 21 + 4 on their fingers also stunned me.

When they ask me I tell them 1234, sometimes I get a double take , most don't care and just need to punch any number in the cash register
