I got carded when I asked for the seniors rate at a local restaurant. I'm 69. I considered that a compliment.

I often get the "senior discount" without asking for it. I'm 53. :laughing: A few years back I was in a little greasy spoon. Ordered up one of the complete meal deals and the tab is less that what was written on the white board. While I was waiting on my food to be delivered I looked over the receipt and noticed the 10% "SRDISC". :laughing: Local grocery store has "Senior Discount Day" on Wednesday. I don't shop there on purpose on Wednesdays, but when I do they always give me the discount - without asking.

I started getting gray hair around 18 or 19. Back in the old days, I had a fake ID to buy beer and wine but rarely had to use it due to the gray on my head.

Wednesday is 'Senior Shopping Discount Day' at the IGA grocery store here in town. It's only 5% but, hey, it's better than a sharp stick in the eye.

Our (one and only) hardware store has a 'local discount' of 5% too... a nod is all that's required during Tourist Season. :thumbsup:

Heck, I'll take anything I can get.

Went thru the self check out at Walmart with Rustoleum Charcoal metallic for my old Lincoln welder.

Computer stopped the transaction- until a checker could verify my age and enter a code,
All she did, was look at my white hair and she entered the code:laughing: Sometimes I miss being carded

They carded me for something or other the last time I was there too. I'm only 68, yah think? They also card me everytime I buy cigarettes at Rite Aid. I guess common sense is no longer in style or maybe they just don't want to accused of profiling us old folks. Ah that's why they still shake down old ladies and nuns at the airports.

I had a friend who worked at Rite Aid. He lost his job for not carding somebody and I believe they bought cigarettes.

Iwas reading over these posts and laughing, this has happened to me several times. i work in the propnane industry and clean alot of stoves and gas logs i use alot of the air in a can to clean pilots on gas logs every ttime i purchase some i have to show my id i ask why and they use it in some from of drug making process. The same the happened when i buy stp gas treatment i have used this stuff for many years and now they have a limit a walmart you can only buy 2 bottles.

I actually asked a friend of mine who is a senior executive at one of the large orange companies mentioned in this thread (I was buying paint last week and had to give my birthdate) about this. Because some many companies were not checking ids, he told me was that the companies now need to prove after the fact to an auditor or the police that they are checking ids. The way they prove compliance with the law is by forcing the checker to enter the birthdate in the computer. That way at the end of the month, quarter or whatever, they only need to run a report.

When I turned 21 my pals took me out for drinks.
That was the only time I was carded and I had been visiting watering holes since 16.

Oh, yes 2 years ago I was in Portland and they carded me for a can of spray paint. (I am 77!) but hair is just graying, not white.
LOL, my brother and cousins are all younger than I and all totally white haired.
They claim that they are only ones that don't dye their hair.

\LOL, my barber dyes his hair and I swear he used shoe dye from the results.
