Cabala's last

I had to jump on the deal... I couldn't have come close to it without the clearance sale. Sorry they are ditching the tractor line. Its a TYM but sure as heck glad its green. Most expensive thing Ive ever bought outside of real estate.

My road is already better and if Spring (what we had in February) every comes back it will be it top shape.

Congrats dogpatch! I've been lurking on this site for awhile and CANNOT make my mind up on what I want. I have 35 acres and plan to use my CUT for a large variety of common tasks. Looking for a backhoe based on all the tasks I have lined up (I know I could rent or hire but would be nice to have my own). Cabelas quoted me an LM36 HST with loader, backhoe w/ thumb, 60" box scraper and rotary cutter. For just under $30k with tax I want to jump on the deal but it's 5 hrs away and I don't own a trailer big enough so I'd have to rent or borrow. I have a TYM dealer within an hour of me but worried about them picking up the warranty.

Next option is a Kubota L3301 with similar attachments for about $35k out the door and delivered. Closer for service too. Any thoughts folks??? You all have already been so helpful with your posts.

ADK, have you checked to see if the TYM dealer has a comparable machine? Their standard pricing should still be competitive with Cabela's closeout pricing, since they originally marked up their tractors by an obscene amount. They were pricing them right up there with Deere, which was probably why their tractor sales never got off the ground. I think a TYM priced fairly will be competitive with Cabela's closeout price.

Very good question, I did. $2k more for the same setup. Was almost thinking I could buy a trailer for close to that savings to pickup from Cabela's. But then again, would be nice to have that buyer relationship with the folks that would service the tractor by purchasing straight from TYM right? Very good suggestion though.

Do they know that they are competing with Cabelas closeout? $2K is a lot, and I agree that could be better spent on a trailer or implements.

Yes, I gave them the details of what Cabelas was offering. I understand that they can't quite go that low. I'm interested in the L3301 too but looking over the specs the TYM/Cabelas beats them on everything but backhoe power and seem to have more features. The TYM or Cabelas tractors have more hydraulic capacity, better turning radius, better 3-pt hitch lift capacity, etc. I'm thinking the Kubota is overall built better stronger though...

Have you checked with other brands besides kubota and cabelas/tym? As an example the massey 1700 series ofvcut tractors in both the E and the premium version s ???? How did they compare? And remember Massey has a 5 year warranty on both the scut gc1700 series and the cut 1700 series which includes multiple frame sizes and engines frpn 23/24 hp to 55 hp.

I'd jump on cabelas, rent a trailer and pocket the savings, or get you a trailer if you think you need one....

Very much the same feeling here. If your thinking about a trailer now you will probably eventually buy one so I would simply do it now and go get the tractor from cabalas. Yes building that relationship with the local dealer might be good but they are people too and understand that 2 grand means a lot to someone. So they will probably be happy to be your go to for work after the fact if needed and if they are not then they wouldn't be the type of dealer I would want to buy anything from to begin with.

They could have been asking in a roundabout way how much Horse Power / category hitch class / overall size and width your tractor was... :2cents: Lot easier if you tell them the model. Believe me, they know what size the competitive models are.
