Hi crop for hay?

Yeah, if I hadn't just dropped 8 Gs on maple syrup equipment, $8,000 for one of them would be awfully tempting!!
Is that similar to what you looking at

Does the tractor have a wider wheelbase to compensate for the added height? It gets mighty scary when I find a stump by driving on it with one rear wheel.

Wheelbase width is the same. I went by one of them and measured the drawbar height. It's about 28". The height is a little scary, seeing how I've flipped (and survived) 2 different rollovers!

The local mechanic thinks that the biggest concern would be the possibility of a rebuild due to it having a lot of hours

One thing in that model tractor is that the air filter box had plastic taps that either break or don't hold causing the cap to loosen, filter to loosen, then let dirt into the engine. There was a bulletin on them at one time. Obviously this is a problem in dusty conditions. Deere paid for half one of our engines because we where not notified of the bulletin. The other tractor we rebuilt the engine as well but not solely for the same reason. Outside of that and with it corrected that is a pretty reliable series.

I'll have to look at the air box. Worst case....if I bought it and had to rebuild it, about how much was it to rebuild yours?

You asked whether it would work and I don't know the answer to that. Knowing that you've been in two rollovers I could give an opinion on whether a hi-crop tractor would be a good idea, but you didn't ask that. What ever you decide I wish you good luck.:)

I was kind of thinking that myself...
