Most of the 661's that people had problems with had been ported. They had a bog off idle. I think they had been ported too much for the mtronic to make it run right.
i am not so sure about "most". At least not here, where I'm told Stihl has just issued a recall for the 661. It's scarcely believable how such a good company can make such a succession of major screw-ups in their flagship saw. So many pros who rely on their saws for a living have ditched Stihl in frustration and bought a 395 Husky, that the distributor can't keep up and they are like hens teeth.

That looks to be a bit of a snarl on the uphill side of those sticks (Upper left of the photo)

They came from a stand of tall straight hemlock that was hand cut because the area was designated as wetlands so they could not cut with heavy machinery. They left a lot of logs just begging to be skidded or winched out, so I did

A field of beams saying "take me take me save me from rot"

Hazards to the left of me, leaners to the right, here I am; stuck in the middle with yew (brain fade on what else would rhyme with 'you')

How about 'stuck in the middle without a clue'.

Stihl has 5 other successful Mtronic saws. If there is a problem with the 661 I am sure they can figure it out.
