I have a Ford 4000 and I am looking at buying a 6 foot Land Pride Shredder RCR2672. Will my tractor be able to lift it? According to the spec it weights 1,046 pounds. Anyone have this combination. thanks for your responses.

Sorry, I don't have that exact combination.

The tractor will lift it. If there's an issue it might be concerning keeping the front tires on the ground. May need some front end ballast. My 3910 will handle some very heavy 3pt loads and does pretty well at keeping it's front tires on the ground. But it's FWD. I use a 6' Rhino brush cutter with no lightness on the front.

I scrounged and found a couple pics. Again, the 3pt has great capability, if you can keep the front end of the tractor on the ground. When using my tree puller I either pull the tree or lift the front tires by simply using the 3pt.

I have a 3910 2wd and I have no problem lifting and carrying the same size haybale ovrszd showed. I have used my 6' Landpride 1X72 series bushhog on some serious hills no problem as well as a 7' Howse heavy mower. With the 7' on some steep hills the front end would get a little light but could have easily been solved with a few front end weights.

One summer I also ran a Ford 3400 with a 6' HD Bushhog brand cutter mowing steep roadbanks for the county. Never had an issue and that was the heaviest 6' mower I've seen.

I think your 4000 will be fine.

I run a Brown 472 that is similar to your shredder. I think that it specs at 1060# with 120 HP gear box. My 4610 SU pulls it fine but I did get a little light on the front end. I added front weights and bracket to the tractor. Now I have no issues. Your 4000 will not have any issues lifting or running the unit at all. That is a very nice shredder.

Then again, we don't know the age of his 4000?? If it's the early model it's really going to be light in the front.

The tractor is a 1973 Diesel with a loader on it. I appreciate all of the replies.

That clarifies that!!!! If you leave the loader on you can carry twice that size of cutter. :)
