The day the music died.

Sadly, we'll never know on network media. They'll cover it up and when that doesn't work, quit talking about it. I.E., Michael, Whitney.

I once had a article written about me 15 years ago. The only thing they got right was my name. No, it was nothing bad but a feel good story that was all BS. I take all the news with lots and lots of salt now.

I think many 'great' performers push so hard and are pushed by others via contracts and fan expectations that they develop anxieties and turn to drugs to sleep, get up, by creative, whatever. It is truly sad to see unique talents perish too soon, and it sure seems there are too many of those in the entertainment industry.

I hear ya my friend. Sadly it's all about Bling now, very little to do with honest accuracy.

I always knew there was a story behind you..............

Yep. Everyone has their favorites. Stevie Ray Vaughn was one of mine. He never hurt no one. Just got consumed.......

I rate Stevie as 1 of the top ten guitar players IMO. Prince, does not rate in there at all.

Would of been very interesting what he would of been doing now without his life being cut short. The best get better.

Of course the lifestyle contributes heavily to the drug and alcohol abuse. I used to play guitar and sing a bit; played some dances, made some TV appearances and thought I was hot stuff. I even considered making a career of it. It didn't take long before you begin to realize that being on the road all of the time, away from home is devastating to family life. Performing at night, in night clubs or dance halls where drinking, smoking and drugs are common, and there's always the pretty thing that wants to sleep with the guitar player. I never even got that far; a few dances and parties around and you begin to see it.

Practically everyone I knew who made or tried to make a career in music were faced with these things. Almost all were divorced and had abuse problems. I have known a few who will play locally, maybe once or twice a month who did OK, but they were not away from home so much. Even so, the temptations are still there. I decided early on that the conventional life and family I had in mind was not compatible with being a Country Music musician.
