Have matching set. Some of my Grandfathers old stuff is at my parents in the barn. He passed away in 1979; most has been sitting since then. No one in my family is interested in old tube HAM stuff... I know some HAM's at work; none are interested in the old stuff. Even have a box of random tubes.

Old radios are somewhat like old cars..... many people have no interest, but the ones that do are heavily into collecting and restoring and using them.....

If you want to move that gear along to an appropriate home, eham would be a good place to post a trial ad (don't know if they charge ?). They have an Antique section in their classifieds, ex.:

eHam.net Classifieds WTB: Johnson Viking Challenger/Navigator case

AFAIK, you do not have to be a licensed ham to post on eham.

I believe that is correct.

Have a couple at work still. Had a third but it was ruined by battery acid. If you have one make sure to store it without batteries or keep them changed.

One of ours has the roll top case and of course we have a manual for it.

Yep, electronics course was taught in a bright pink building, I want to say Allie Hall but I don't think that is right. Summer time in Biloxi 100 degrees @ 100% humidity.

That rings a faint bell so it could have been Allie Hall indeed. I don't remember what color it was but I do remember challenging my way though the basic course because the instructor got sick and tired of me calling him on everything. They stuck me in an advance paced course for the AFSC specific stuff. I guess they wanted me gone from there and I wanted to be gone so it was a win/win.

I was a Navy electronics tech from 1969 to 1990. I wish I had a dollar for every hour I spent with a Simpson 260!

I could grant your wish for only one dollar, swabbie. LOL

Yep, I was there in Spring of 1967.

I think that's about the time I was there too or just a little later, it's been so long ago I've lost track. I could have been going through Lackland then but that went pretty quick. I spent about 6 months at Keesler I think. Enlisted in 67, got out in 74.

I've never seen a tambor case like that. I didn't even know they existed. Nice!

Did you go to Goodfellow AFB in San Angelo?
