UTV Decision

How fitting.

I had a little incident with mine yesterday. Full speed to stopped by instantly letting off. It was not intentional.

There is now a hydro leak and complete lack of motion. Something internally has let loose.

I've been talking to a dealer tech and will start another thread detailing how and what happened, as I tear into it.

I'm not an RTV expert by any stretch of the imagination. But I know this type of reaction is not healthy for the driveline. The primary reason I was able to buy mine soooooo cheap was my friend's wife just couldn't deal with that.

I would suggest to anyone with any older model 900, do a Google search about it and you'll find some very detailed threads about how to tone that down to a manageable level.

Even with a Coast Valve mine has some engine braking and easily stops within a comfortable distance on flat ground. I use the brake pedal to descend steep hills and in emergency stops. Otherwise the vehicle still stops. Just not violently.

Sorry for your troubles Derek. Anxious to hear what happened. Hope it's a stupidly simple fix.

I'm sorry but don't they build snow groomers to groom snow?? To me I would but a snow groomer for grooming snow before something that will have problems.

Are you over sizing tires?? Putting tires on that aren't recommended by factory?? There has to be something that ain't adding up to cause you problems.

I think it's time to by the right machines for the job

Many of the smaller clubs do not have a budget to cover an expensive snow groomer...a side by side is 10% the cost in many cases. Up here they use Gators and they do very well.

The sherpa cost is something over $25,000. I can't find there current pricing but I have tested them. Despite this cost, you can't use it during other times of the year. No shock, there are darn few systems using them in NA. We operate a UTV, a ATV and a snowmobile which all have there advantages and problems. Why is Hustsonscott giving out snow grooming advice?

Just in case you haven't traveled much you might not understand Houstonians and Texans own Colorado and the ski areas. Check the private jet registrations on ground at Aspen and other places in Colorado, you'll begin to understand... Colorado is a winter play ground owned by Texans, has been since the 1940's. HS

Lost track of how many Texans I've ran across wheeling in Colorado's mountains. Really get tired of having to help them.

With that said, Colorado is a long ways from Michigan. :)

You sound a little like sour grapes, like someone who was helped and not the one doing the assisting. You intimate because you live in Michigan your snow experiences might trump someone who lived in Houston for many years, that could be a mistake. I'm not the one describing grooming vehicle failures. I'm not either. And I'm not from Michigan.

Your assuming attitude is typical. Your self proclaimed ownership of Colorado is also very typical.

No grapes or help needed here. :)

Relax you guys let's not derail this thread to badly. BTW I wouldn't recommend using Michigan as a comparison for this past winter. Only a few good storms happened that were over 8in. Just speaking as a die heart Michigan lover (not the football team)

Sorry, but be careful, you give a Texan bull you get the horn. HS
