What are the tricks to getting good tie in down in inside corners with stick mainly 7018? I struggle with this it ends up being a big blob or having slag inclusions most of the time.

I like to use a die grinder with a 1/16-inch thick disk to feather my starts and stops of a weld. Makes for easy tie ins.

Yea I'm good with that I'm only talking about an inside corner with stick.

Sometimes you have to use a roto burr in a die grinder.

That's exactly what I ended up doing I was wondering if I was doing something wrong.

You can try to use a smaller rod. Or weld in from the other direction and tie in that way.

That's the only tool my die grinder has ever seen. That exact one.

Works excellent for getting slag out of deep grooves on the first pass too.
I use a 1/4" ball tip. Easier to control and almost always it can do all you need.
