Did some more work around the place.

Thanks to TNAndy I have a very nice gentleman come deliver me 20 tons of rock.







Had to replant the front yard, with trees gone now I might be able to get some grass to grow!

The whole driveway is about 4" thick. Some old and some new, I mixed some dirt in when scooping it up. It looks thin, but isn't.

I will need more stone for a different location not pictured though, but its EXPENSIVE! Will have to wait for a month or two before more it ordered.

New toy! New toy! New toy!!!

722 pounds of it, rented pallet forks to get it out of the freight truck.



My helper for the afternoon, he wanted to tighten nuts and bolts for me.



Leveling the bed getting ready to mount top.

First cut, so far so good. Need to level the rails a bit more, it has a little bump where the rails met and attach in the middle.





So far so good, time will tell.

This is the wood pile I plan to work on with the new toy!

This is the Harbor Freight sawmill. Surprisingly enough, it is solid. All thick and rigid steel for sure!

A couple little issues, but nothing I can't address. I just need to get a grapple or pallet forks to load the logs on the mill. Then get some more angle iron to extend the rail bed for longer logs.

Yep...Red delivers an honest load for decent price with a weigh ticket, unlike those crooks you were dealing with before. Stone is still high, but at least you're getting what you pay for !

Some updated pictures of the first millings. Playing with a poplar log just to see what I can do. Then on to a hemlock to make a couple post for a shed.

Turned out good. Not perfect, but will work just fine for what I am using them for!




Getting this log on the mill without forks or a grapple was interesting! I MUST have something besides chains and my back!

Take a couple of those 6x6's and build yourself a log deck out perpendicular from the mill. Set one end on the cinder block you have for the mill base, then set up something on the other ends to get it level to slightly higher (so the log will roll in easy). Then load the deck with several logs at a time so you can simply roll them in with a peavy. Also, the deck gives you a place to sit un-edged boards until you're ready to edge saw them.
