I was fly fishing the snake river a few years ago and had just released a fish I caught. The fish was 3 or 4 feet away from me heading down stream catching it's breath and wham, out of nowhere, an eagle snatched it out if the river. Most amazing thing I've ever experienced.

Bad for the fish. But would have been very cool to see!!!!

A lady at the end of my road was constantly leaving food outside for feral cats. She finally moved and I noticed about 3 years ago that the rabbit population about quadrupled.

There's a feral cat at my farm. I made an entry for it to get in the machine shed. I keep food and water in there for it. Have no mice. Wish I had a second one.

I saw a bald eagle about a mile from my house last week....no big deal in these parts. We have lots of them. Mostly eat fish here, It's less risky that mammals. Eagles are relatively fragile and like most raptors, won't take chances unless it's absolutely necessary.

Local Country Club had a problem with geese (BIG problem in central & SE MI) fouling the course with their droppings, as well as impeding the progress of bouncing golf balls. One year the geese wonderfully found other places to hang out - turns out there were foxes which had made their home on the golf course and were eating the geese. A few folks whined about "the poor geese" but were ignored, until the groundskeeper found a few cat collars near the fox den. Most of the guys called it survival of the fittest, or natures way. The gals managed to get the foxes captured and moved. OK to let carnivores eat, just not on their golf course.

Of course, now those geese (and their deposits) are back.

Same here, I am originally from the Ohio Valley, spent some time in Arkansas, NJ, Europe, now we're in Montana. Never seen a bald eagle in person my entire life until a couple weeks ago. We were at Giant Springs and as we were leaving a bald eagle came gliding/soaring over the river, and swung back around and flew over us again. We were really excited to see it, very majestic. We pointed it out to another group of people walking near by, they looked at us like we were from Mars. I guess its no big deal to see a bald eagle here in Montana. haha

We live in the bush with no cats. OR so I thought. The other day I found cat prints all over the car. God help it if my Maremma sees it. (or me for that matter)

I've always had barn cats - the only way to curb the mouse/pocket gopher population. "Nature" and "justice" have never gone well together. Nature is all about survival of the fittest. Justice is a human concept and all about man's intervention in the natural way of things.

I was told by a health department restaurant inspector (many years ago) that some eating establishments do have a special menu; you just have to know to ask for it.
