Any 2016 Ford F-550 V-10 gas owners?

My 12' Dodge 5500 left me stranded with the DEF system entering limp mode while pulling a 20k pound load. Only idled in normal traffic. Had to leave it in the shop for over a week for repairs. I'm done with the new diesels. The DEF is a huge problem for all heavy duty trucks from what the local truck stop mechanic told me. Hope everyone else has better luck with their new DEF system in diesel trucks.
The new Ford pulls 20k with no problem at about 2 miles less per gallon.

My brother has a 550 with the v10. I think it's a 2014 or 2015. He gets about 6 mpg, but hauls it loaded up and with a 8,000 lb trailer most of the time, and all short trips. Good, reliable truck. He owns 5 Ford V10's and really likes them. Manual transmission wasn't available so he settled for the automatic. All his others are standard trans.

The way I look at it is, reliability first and fuel mileage second. Have also noticed quite a few older V10 badged Fords still driving around. I would have preferred a standard trans but the auto with a 4:88 rear is good to go for me.

DEF is very easily contaminated so make sure your fluid SUPER clean. The old EGR design sure wasn't good.

That's another reason it is a problem. I only used Peak brand from a sealed container and the tank never went below 60%. Also I was the only driver since the truck was bought new. Basically the truck was driven per the owners manual all the time. Good luck.

We have a 09' F350 with the 6.8L motor, Its a strong gas motor, but is also very thirsty. I think ours averages 11 MPG (with the 4.10 rear end), although right when we put new plugs in last summer i got 15 ish for a few days.

I have an '01 F350 with V10. Solid performing truck. Drag my L3901 around with it daily. Also haul 4 ton of crushed limestone in my dump trailer. 8 mpg pulling and 90% of the time front wheels are not free wheeling. Shift in and out of 4WD often. I am running 5 Star tuning. Have seen 14 mpg on the highway on a trip not pulling. Pulled a trailer from Texas to Florida and back loaded both ways. Avg 9.9 mpg. Recently purchased '09 Cab & Chasis. 8 mpg pulling the dump with the rock.

99 v10 f350 385,000 works hard 6 days a week and plays hard on sundays.Only think done to motor is 6 coils water pump ,alt and retapped exhaust manifold bolts.:thumbsup::drink:

Yea, buy a new truck then spend a couple thousand more to delete it, haha . A new truck should be reliable for a very long time in my opinion without having to do any modifications at all. I know it's epa stuff mostly.
I'm running over 26k pounds combined weight and commercial with dot #'s. Farmers and private owners can get away with deletes for awhile I guess.
