I have this old dual drum roller in my backyard that was left behind by someone. It's super heavy and I can't budge it. I don't even think I could manage to get this in my vehicle to take to a scrap yard. Is this worth anything to anyone :) I could guess that it's about 500 lbs and both drums roll good. Any thoughts on what to do with it besides post a picture to craigslist? Thanks!

I wouldn't think you would have any problems getting someone to take it. I would like to have it. Pressure wash it and paint it, and you could probably make a few bucks selling it.

Drum would be used for rolling in seed. Considering its width, it would be used to roll in grass seed. Grass seed is expensive. Rolling in the seed increases germination by 20% to 60%.

Nice item.

Photo: Drum plus RTV500 Turf Tires = 48" coverage.

:welcome:, mark308!

Around here, farmers sell rocks for $10/hwt.

If you were closer, I'd start the bid at $50. (totally NOT kidding).

It's not just city folk that'll pay for something they really want.

Obviously I'd keep it and use it to roll my yard in the Spring, and/or when seeding.

I'm assuming you wouldn't owe anyone the favor of just giving it away, but you wouldn't have to mow around it.

I have one like it. The fact that it's 2 rollers side by side make it real easy to turn around corners without scuffing the new ground as it turns.

I found it too heavy to push/pull with the regular T handle on it so I cut it off and put a trailer hitch on it. I drag it around with my Cub Cadet tractor/mower. I use it to roll my lawn every spring and compact the dirt on my driveway.

Any idea what it originally cost?

I would search the web for modern day ones to get an idea of worth. New ones don't seem to be built as well as that one. I know mine isn't at least. At least get an idea that way.

I also agree with power wash and paint.

The equivalent width, plastic drum, flimsy frame, to be filled with water, is $160 at Tractor Supply Company.

That is what is behind my RTV500 in the photo in Post #3. I have had it three years in FREEZE-FREE Florida.

I would think with some C channel bolted on it for a tongue to be pulled behind a lawn mower and washed and painted to look nice, it would fetch at least that $160 don't you think? That is what i would do with it and probably keep it.
