HDS 2165 voltage sensor rotted

I'm in the UK and have been told that a new voltage sensor is no longer available
Does anyone know of a modification I could do to the wiring to get the machine up and running again.
The clutch will not operate and the key switch will not stop the engine.
I have to use the seat switch to stop it.
I'm none too worried if the dash light doesn't come on, as I know this is powered by the voltage sensor.

I'd appreciate any input from you guys, I'm at my wits end.

Thanks Bob but it is dated 2015 and the sensor is already sold. I looked on ebay already.

I've mentioned this before and yes, your opinions may vary on rewiring around "safety" features, but if that's the only way to make the machine operational, then, so be it.

The switches and wiring used on the Cub Cadets were junk when new and they're twenty+ years old and most are NLA anyway. Over the first few years of ownership, I replaced the PTO switch and the ignition switch with expensive new factory parts. When they failed again, I began rewiring the machine. By the time I'd owned it for twenty years, there was an industrial key starter, switch an on-off toggle for the PTO and that's it. Not a single inch of OEM wiring or connector remained. As long as the OEM wiring and connectors remained, the machine randomly failed to start or to mow. Once they were gone, it was 100% reliable.

Thanks for the reply Jack. I will probably end up rewiring most of the machine, as you suggest. I too have suffered with faulty OEM switches and have managed to nurse them along for a few years. I'm sure the voltage sensor is only to light/unlight the red battery light on the dash.

FWIW, today, I just pulled a mile of "lawyer-switch-wiring" off my 2166 and it's enlightening how little is necessary for it to start, run and mow. A red wire to the engine, red and blue to the PTO, a ground switch for the PTO and a momentary-on pushbutton for start.

For the good of the order, I'd send you whatever I removed for the cost of postage.
