I have a 17d mini-ex with a 12" tooth bucket. When it comes to moving lose rock, mud, sand, ect. it takes FOREVER. For the dozen times ill need a big wide bucket I cant justify spending $800-1000 on one, finding anything used here has been a lost cause. I have been searching craigslist constantly and check with dealers monthly. Nothing has come up in almost 8 months. So in comes this gem... may it work wonders or fail spectacularly is soon to be seen. Enjoy my picture spamming and booger welding madness.

Yes, I opted for mild steel over a hardened variety due to cost and what I have on hand to weld with. Yes... I know.
Materials include 1/2, 5/16, 1/4 and 1/8" plate. A peice of leftover 2x2x1/4" square. Random pieces of hardened blade ill use for the lip.

1st up. $150 in materials and some bracket tracing.

One of two parts I didnt know how to accomplish... as you can see my "shop" isnt loaded with fun toys. Used a mix of chain binders, clamps, 1/4" angle and my ex to form the back. Didnt come out perfect but its curved. Back part is a bit curved inwards compared to the rest... Not sure. Did the base skin with 1/8" since thats about the max I could bend myself. Ill either double up or run some thick wear bars later.

Looks great bit I am curious how you plan on sealing it to allow the wort to start fermentation. :)

Do you mean paint, or something else?

Haha............. I thought the same thing when I saw the title.
I wondered why someone would build a home brew bucket.
