Any way to test to see if this is the problem?

You could disconnect the line out and see if it's got bubbles in it when you use the manual primer or crank the engine (might need a helper for that).

I think there is a tool to remove fuel lines but can it be done otherwise? I'm afraid I will break the connection clip.

Seems to be sucking air around the manual pump primer on top of the fuel filter assembly, I have it sealed off temporarily and I was able to bush hog a couple hours this morning without any problems. Hopefully I won't have any other trouble with it.

I would see if they have a rebuild kit, and if not, replace the pump...it's going to fail again, and not at a good time. This pump style has a limited life...many don't last 1000 hours.
