Hmm the 4.4 V8 was only a rumor, of increasing the displacement of the production 3.6 V8 in the Jag.

Anyways, the 3.6 V8 would outclass the Ecodiesel in hp (235 vs 270hp) and getting the fuel economy, together with the V8 rumble which might be a winning combo

The 3.5 ton Sprinter has a load capacity of a ton, but gets dressed up with smaller rims with taller rubber and is sold as a 3/4 ton in the US. The 5 ton Sprinter with its 2.4 ton load rating gets the same treatment (195/65r16 tires in Europe, 205/70r15 in the USA) and is sold as a one ton truck.

You're talking about vans and we're talking about pickup trucks. I don't believe any F150s, Chevy/GMC 1500s, Ram 1500s or Toyota Tundras are sold by their manufacture in Europe.

You can have one imported, but even that's rare. Carfax says that less than 7,000K F150s have been imported to Europe since 1992. Ford sells that many in less than four days in the U.S. ;)

vans (or their chassis-cab variants) are the European equivalent of the pickup truck.

No, only gray import. Here they serve merely as ego inflating devices.

Okay, but we're not talking about the European equivalent of the pickup truck, we're talking about pickup truck sales in the U.S. which is "unique" if nothing else.

I understand there is no official import of full size pickups into Europe but in may last few trips there I have been surprised how many I've noticed in Germany and Austria. Some may be US expatriates that have brought them in. However, with the great success Ford is having with officially importing the Mustang, I wouldn't be surprised to see truck marketing. US minivans have been pretty popular around the world for a while, so maybe we get more respect in the cargo carrying segment.

US minivans were popular because they were cheap and first. And of terrible quality so thats pretty much over now European and Japanese have picked up that trend.

Cargo carrying segment, nope. You need a CDL for anything over 3500kg so a full size pickup has no ability to legally carry cargo. Those who carry cargo commercially have CDL and use a Mercedes Atego or MAN TGL or Iveco Eurocargo that weigh 3 ton and carry 5.

As said, within our legal limits a full size pickup serves no other purpose than to inflate ones ego.

Maybe they cannot be used for cargo but they could haul supplies home from a store. 3500 kg = 7700 lbs which is a high GVW for an F150.
