im a firm believer that all tractors should come with rear remotes, its a joke that you have to add them.

If using TnT and a BB with hydraulic scarifiers you need 3. There are very, very few tractors built with 3 as standard equipment.

Yesterday I buried an Alpaca that died of old age for a widow neighbor that is having a rough time making ends meet. By planning ahead, I used the Box Blade, FEL with Piranha edge, to dig a shallow grave for the critter. It weighed about 300 pounds I estimate.

That's when I learned that one needs to shorten the top link as far as possible to get those rippers down. By the time I was called upon, the critter was stiff, bloated, stinking and covered with flies. One doesn't want to dally to get that job done.

Chopping a few tree roots with and ax and chopping the long stiff neck of the Alpaca took some extra effort, but the tractor did the rest of the work.....except for dumping a bag of lime of the body before covering it.

The Box Blade served me well, as did the FEL since I don't have a Backhoe.

Oldballs, I don't envy you on that job. But that's a nice thing you did for your neighbor.

I think it's a joke that people think "tractors should come with [fill in with what YOU want]".

A tractor is basically an engine with wheels designed to pull stuff. Just as many of us wouldn't buy a tractor without a FEL and a bucket, there are many tractors used that never need a FEL and many users with a FEL would rather use a grapple than a bucket.

The options are there to add them on. And even if the mfg added it in as base equipment the parts would still be expensive. Extra valves, hoses, upgraded cylinders still cost $$. The evolution of adding what was at one time options to the base machine increases cost for those that don't need the options.

I've yet to use my rear remotes on my M4700, 3 years and have not had the need. And in it's previous ownership all it did was pull a bushhog along the side of a road without top-n-tilt.

Yep, we all have our needs. Mine are ground engaging with the 3PH- such as ROBB, rake, PHD and subsoiler. The TnT makes all of these implements much easier to use in my hands and allows me to be far more productive. For the FEL it is rock grapple, stump bucket and regular bucket with teeth. Love the front and rear remotes for my stuff, use them almost every time I am on the tractor and absolutely would not want to be without them. One of the best labor saving investments I have made. And yes, they would be an extra expense for someone who does not use the types of equipment I use.
