I'd check the cables between the positive battery post [ not the clamp ] and the starter lug, and also the negative post [ again, not the clamp ] to the frame with a voltmeter when you try to start it. Could be several other things, but I'd check the battery voltage and those two cables first. You can have a deteriorating cable get wiggled around enough to finally fail when you are out using your tractor. Good Luck...!!!! :)

Will certain safety switches end up over riding all features including gauges and lights? Or is it just ignition that gets over ridden? (Thinking PTO, seat, brake, etc...)

I doubt that would explain it though since you noted it powered down while you were mowing... Does sound like a wire in a main circuit came unglued perhaps. Will be following this one. Good luck.

Solved: 40A power supply fuse. After checking the battery cables(both good) I started feeling around the starter for a fuse, stuck in behind the started out of sight was a 40A pigtail fuse. Tested fuse sure enough it was bad, replaced fuse lights came on dash and started right up.
Thanks guys for your help,
David

Aha - always good to check the simple fixes first! Glad that worked out quickly. I wonder if something off caused the fuse to pop or if it just went after aging? I do need to get a better selection of fuses in my toolbox. This is a good reminder.

I lucked out at the parts store it was the last 40a fuse thay had. For a little over 5 bucks I will get another. I'm doing the same bush hogging that has been done many times, I can't understand why a 4 year old tractor would blow that fuse. I guess this is of those lifes persistent questions.

I'd be looking for what cause that fuse to blow. Chaffed wire etc.
