I use power service (white bottle) in the winter as an anti gel and use marvel mystery oil in summer much less expensive.....both are good lubricants and injector cleaners....use what the big boys use in the 18 wheelers. their living depends on keeping those diesel rigs running year round....I pulled RVs coast to coast for two years in some pretty cold winter weather....you need to use something because diesel fuel is pretty dirty.

Recall some years back when we had an abnormally warm winter that changed overnight into -30C. Temperatures. There were a lot of transport trucks sitting along the highway.

As long it doesn't contain alcohol and has a Biocide it should be ok , antigel is only needed in cold weather ,biocide is a year around must , it's much easier to treat your fuel than trying to clean the bugs out of your tractor and storage tanks

I have posted that link several times myself in the past. Who says the amount of lube from the refinery is not enough? Injection pumps fail from dirt or water, not lube failure . Additives won't stop gasket and elastomer failures which normal pump failure and not related to lubrication of the elements . Some is good and more is better does not always apply.
Some people just can't help themselves. They have thier superstitions about ladders, lotteries and additives . They look upon it as a small cost as a way to win big.

I was a diesel mechanic starting in the 60's, I owned and worked on many MB diesels. We had trouble with more than normal noise in the mid-70's, MB came out with what they called a whispers nozzle, I started putting those in and always set the injectors to the maxium recomended pressure. They a made big difference, the thing was the north American fuel was different than the euro-fuel. Having put them in my personal 75 240d I noticed that after 40,000 miles they were getting noisy again and power was reduced. I bought the additive from Texas Refinery called Dieselene, after a few hundred miles it was running like the nozzles were new again. I still drive the MB diesels today.

We run the fuel conditioner from John Deere, never had a problem with gelling up or anything. Only run it in the winter.

Three or so years ago i had case of ( bugs ) in my fuel tank , stopped up fuel filter and shut down engine , had to have both storage and tractor fuel tanks cleaned ...i now add biocide and antigel at every tank fill..,

A bottle of FPPF Killem can be had at a very good price and it lasts a long, long time. A great biocide. I use the Schaeffer additive for my normal needs, mostly winter protection. Only adds about 2-3 cents cost to each gallon of fuel at recommended application rate. A good value.

I am not a real big believer in the diesel treatments expect for preventing gelling. We have 16 things with Diesel engines and I have tried the lubricity/mpg additives in hopes of better fuel economy without any nori able benefit. I don't use them on a regular basis and have never had any type of fuel system failure though I did one time have a fuel treatment do something that amazed me. We have a rubber tracked crawler with a six cylinder Mitsubishi diesel that we bought used. When we got it the thing smoked bad like choke you bad. If you started it in the shop it would fill the shop with smoke. We assumed it was burning oil as it had a bit of a bluish tint to the smoke or at least I thought it did. We had to use it on a couple jobs but we're anticipating major engine repairs when we had some down time. I checked the oil like a hawk and it never went down which was strange as much as it was smoking so I began to suspect it was fuel smoke. I thought what the heck and dumped a whole bottle of fuel treatment for 150 gallons or whatever into its 35 gallon tank. To my amazement the smoke stopped almost instantly and hasn't came back in over 100 hrs of use.

I don't believe a lot of the diesel treatment hype, simple truth is in my opinion is antigel and biocide if needed , anything elese is a waste of time and money....

Power service and water cooled two stroke oil ( the latter is for lubricity improvement and not storage though.)
