Any slow moving equipment on a busy highway is a recipe for a disaster sooner or later. In Ontario, maybe there should be clearer guidlines. They have expanded laws as far as giving a wide berth to tow trucks, and cylalists but I am unaware of any laws dealing with machinery on our roadways.
I am always nervous passing equipment because you never know what their intentions are. You don't know where the turn signals are or even if the operator is using them properly. Then there ae the string of wagons with an old crumpled up SMV sign at the back dangling by a crooked piece of wire. This is supposed to meet requirments of the highway safety act.
An accident often has several factors that all come together at the right moment. Rarely a single cause.
