Oh, and the pile O pop cans was massacred by the 10/22 with a 50 round clip... twice! She had some of those cans pop 10' up in the air. :)

And she quickly noticed that popping off 50 rounds as fast as you can, while fun, is highly inaccurate. Good thing the pile O cans was large. We also shot the 9 shot fast and she watched as my first round hit the target, but the following 8 all hit about a foot low, all in the same place, but all low. At least I was consistent!

There no scary noise then racking a 12ga. I wonder what thought goes thru the robbers mind when he hears the noise
In a dark house?.

Maybe the robber thinks "I know right where you are now Mr. Homeowner, and I will wait in my dark corner until you appear and shoot you?" I wouldn't rely solely on the the racking sound to make them flee. They might flee, and if they had any brains they would flee, but if they had any brains they wouldn't break into houses in the first place. You are liable to get shot around here.

Last year method heads were robbing houses in the country you think these people would understand people who live in the country like me have guns because no police force here so the county SO/ and the state patrol here not all the times but some times, so you gotta be prepaired.

I always gotta wonder about swinging a shotgun around in my tiny little house. I've got a short, narrow hallway with multiple openings. I think it would be awkward to try to maneuver a shotgun through that part of the house.

So, most likely case where a gun 'for home defense' might be needed?

In bed asleep, awakened by a noise - maybe breaking glass or just a sound that doesn't seem right. I wouldn't want to have to rack one in the chamber. I want to get the first and hopefully only shot.

It can be effective. I have fired that exact shotgun. A lady bought one and wanted to come by the house to have a place to fire it and receive some instructions. keep in mind how will you store it? Will the barrels be loaded with safety on? Will you have small children in the house? Will you keep it empty? I keep my 12 gauges with an empty chamber but magazine loaded, so I will need to rack to place the firearm into operation. Yes, I know this can give away my position. It is all a tradeoff.
